Hey guys. Just bought a M45 and ran the battery down and jumped it off, killing the regulator. I got a new alternator and the battery light is still on. Is there some type of manual reset? Also after getting the new alternator installed the brake light came on and will not go off. Fluid is fine and brakes are new??? Don't know if these are related, but I checked fuses in the car ( passenger cabin) and by the battery and all are good. Just trying to figure out :wtf2: is going on.. Any help is appreciated... Thanks

In the '03-04 M45, both the Brake and Battery lights will come on if the alternator stops charging. I'm assuming yours is similarly wired, and installing the new alternator should have fixed the lights. Either the new alternator is not connected properly, or possibly is not working quite right. Or you may have damaged something else (like the instrument cluster) when you "killed" the regulator.
You mentioned that the battery is OK, but there is a connection from the instrument cluster to the alternator that causes the lights to go on when the alternator is not developing sufficient voltage. Maybe this is not working. Is this a stock alternator?

Anyway, there is no manual reset that I am aware of. (again, I'm speaking to the Y34, YMMV)

good luck
