New to Infiniti and Need some advice :)

Hello everyone im pretty new to infiniti. Im a former Saab owner, and that recently died so im looking for that luxury but still wat the performance. im lookin at a q45 right now...im actually goin to take it for a test ride today....its a 1990....the owner said that it needs a center bearing....i kno it has to do with the driveshaft but wat is it?....im also wondering wat the upgrades possiblities are for the center bearing.....is a 1990 q45 a decently tunable car??.....how brittle is the 4 wheel steering???...sorry for alll the questions

Hey Kurtis, welcome to the club. First of all, you should find out if the chain guide were done. If not, your looking at a very expensive repair that has to be done. This effects 90-93 only. Another thing you could do is go to a local, helpful dealer that could run a service history on the Q your looking at. Just give them the VIN. I've never done it myself, but it don't hurt to ask. As far as being "tunable" because of slow sales, there's not many mods that will bring tangible results. Some have done mods. I'm sure they'll chime in. 4 wheel steering? I don't have it in mine, so I don't know. I haven't herd of any problems, but I haven't herd that it really adds much to the driving experience. I hope this helps.

For the center bearing, read Drew's thread on replacing his driveshaft:

And IIRC, no one has complained about the 4-wheel steering being troublesome. The 90 is a particularly nice engine - lots of goodies that Infiniti dropped later.
