I'd suggest getting in a car, heck even a rental and go to your local dragstrip and practice, will they be running a pro tree? or amature tree? the best lessons are learned by doing, as for launch with an auto, especially is it's not yours. is to stand on the brake pedal, and raise the rpm's as far as you feel you can hold with the brakes, when the light goes up let off the brake and roll the go pedal to the floor, and stay on it
again getting comfotable with the actiosn and the lights is key, if you have to go rent a car and take it to the drag strip, you won't set any land speed records but you'll get used to the timing of the lights and the feel of the launch, drag strips are treated with a traction compound that'll take your shoes off if you walk on it not tightly laced, soyou can launch much harder than on the street and with an auto on drag radials, you should be getting a real good holeshot
