WELCOME to NICO!!! How much you lookin to spend? A high flow air filter will cost @$50. I just did a Y-pipe and high flow cat for $280. That was a major gain. Air intake $89.- $300. depending on manufacturer. There is a lot that can be done, it just depends what you have to spend.

Welcome aboard!

Actually, I don't really recommend a cold air intake on a 90. The stock air box is excellent. It draws cold air straight from the wheel well, and is as straight a shot to the plenum as any aftermarket intake could be. Every "cold air intake" I've seen for our cars draws air from above and behind the radiator...making it a hot air intake. The stock intake already is cold air induction.

Dual exhaust won't net any gains, either. It could look good, though. The way the exhaust must be routed on our cars, you have to have a single exhaust most of the way back anyway. There's no room for a true dual system. Even the newest maximas with dual tips are this way.

High flow cats would be good, as would slightly larger piping and a new muffler and possibly resonator (for better sound).

The best mod you can do for gain-per-dollar is a y-pipe. The y-pipe is the plumbing that joins the two banks together. The way it's designed, it is quite restrictive. An aftermarket y-pipe will do a lot to free things up.

Combine that with a full exhaust at something like 2.5 inches, your high flow cats, and a high flow muffler, and you'll be doing great.

I suggest going with magnaflow for the exhaust components. They sound very good on our cars, in my opinion. If you click the link in my signature (VG+Magnaflow= ) you can hear what a basic 2.5 inch cat-back with magnaflow muffler and resonator will sound like. Y-pipe, full exhaust, and high flow cats will sound even better.

+1 on the y-pipe

that's the best bang for your buck without a doubt. The rest of it (hi flow cat, cat-back) isn't going to net you much performance, but it will definitely sound better.

You might pick up an underdrive pulley. I dropped a couple of tenths in the quarter mile with one. My car has the DOHC engine (190 hp vs. your 160 hp) but it will be somewhat of an improvement. I paid a little over $100 for mine, plus the belts are different and I think they were around $35-$40.

I think if you want to increase performance, that engine doesn't have a lot of other inexpensive mods.

Honestly, the best thing you can do for yourself is spend the money to put a new timing belt on, unless you know for sure (receipt) that it was changed. Your car has a non-clearance engine. If you change the T-belts and keep the fluid changed, you have one of the most reliable engines ever made.

I used a Warpspeed. It's an exact duplicate of the Cattman at 1/3 the cost.
