Hello, I'm new to the forum but not to the 240, I recently was driving to work in my 93 w/ ka24de (t) and at 70mph in gear the car died, it was so much fun you guys, seriously. Half an hour later when the car cooled down, it started up and made it to work like nothing happened. On the way home, same thing car got to temp running great, bam nothing, no hesitating, no hard/rough idle, just died. Checked spark and nothing. An hour later, engine cold, car starts perfectly all the way home no problem, drove longer after restart then before it died. It started a few months previous intermittently and I thought it was the AEM fic/6 but everything there checks out fine. I did some searching on google and found a few things it could be, Heat soaked ignitor/coil, heat soaked cam position sensor/distributor, temp sensor ( I don't think symptoms are right) or a couple other things. Problem is now regardless of my best efforts I can't find those threads, and even when I do, they were lacking info, mainly how to check / what the resistances should be for said parts. Any information, help, or constructive criticism would be great! Stay awesome :dblthumb:

im not sure at all, but maybe fuel pump is going bad? like overheating at operating temps and cutting out. like i said, im not sure, but its something to check out, assuming you have the stock pump. but seeing as how you have a kat, its probably upgraded. hopefully someone with kat experience can chime in

Good looking out I checked that first but pump is good it's a walbro. It is definitely something to do with spark because untill the car cools down I get absolutely no spark from the coil

Are you running stock ignition? Check all your grounds near the coil pack. Sounds like it is a coil. I've had this problem a few time on numerous cars. Check the coil. And i highly doubt that its the dizzy. Let the car cool down and try a diff coil and take it for a test drive. You can get a new mad coil pretty cheap. Less then 100$

Well I just switched the coil, it ran about 10mins got to temp and died clean, no sputtering, no strange idle and died. Some componant in here is getting heat soaked and breaking it's circuit. I picked up the new coil for 22 bucks so not a big deal, but I miss my car someone has to have had a similar issue... or knows where the thread is that explains how to fix this.

Alright, so I checked spark again and with the new coil it still had spark. So I know it has spark and fuel leaving only air as the missing component, (and timing but I know that's good) pulled the plug for the maf and it was all corroded. I used the wire wheel on my dremel tool cleaned the connectors, put some junk on it and bam fired up. So good looking out waxdnuggz (f*** lol) I believe this was a two part issue. You guys are awesome thanks for all of your help and support!

Glad it was such an easy fix. Spray some dielectric grease on it same stuff you put on spark plugs. Itll keep it from corroding again. Rise the connection off with non chlorinated brake parts cleaner or wd40 first

So was driving today and the problem came back, re cleaned the prongs and adjusted them for a tighter fit and happened again. I had svperformance do a diagnostic on it about a year ago and they swapped out my z32 maf for a single cam maf I'm wondering if thehmaf it's self is bad? Anybody know a way to check?

they sell MAF cleaner by CRC, try that. If no change, remove maf. Run with just intake. If no change, then you need to change maf

Ok so cleaned the maf waited a couple of days then took it to the store it just started to warm up when I got there, went in grabed food, Iin there about 45 mins, came out car starts runs for about 30 seconds then dies clean no change. Wait 25 mins car starts and makes it home no problem. I disconnected the maf this morning and it did start but ran like crap so I dont think it's the maf it's self. I'm curious of what sensors are on the car that would cut the ignition circut if it was going bad? :gotme

sounds like your distributor dude. Exact same thing would happen to me with my trans am. I replaced all the little module and it would get a little better but then it would die out again. It wasnt until I replaced the whole distributor that it got fixed. My friend said that it was because somewhere on the the distributor spindle overheats and it cuts out.

Let us know if and how you fix it!!

But still have spark? A new distributor is $800 from nissan if you can believe it.
