New to Forum, Tires and overdrive?

I am new to the Forum as well as my 1997 QX4. I went off-roading yesterday and happened to get myself into a bit of trouble. After being winched out by a buddy a noticed a lack of power. I soon discovered that the transmission was stuck in 3rd. My overdrive light had flashed rapidly and upon further research i discovered that the transmission had gone into save mode, perhaps as a result of trying to get unstuck. Restarted her and she seems to be running fine. Axels were on the ground but no damage. Is there anything i should be worried about? Also looking for a light all terrain tire when the current ones go. Any suggestions?

You probably overheated the fluid - did you notice the A/T OIL TEMP light come on when you were stuck? Check the fluid level and condition - if it is brown or smells burnt, you should drain & fill the transmission fluid. You should also think about installing an auxiliary transmission cooler as well as an in-line filter.

I did notice the light coming coming on. Thank you. I am changing oil in 2k miles, I will do the transmission fluid as well.
