My Nissan (ok Datsun) history is Roadsters & 510's.
Yesterday I picked up a 1970 SPL311 that was converted to an SRL around 1990. It has a U20 + 5 spd. This is my current project now for spare time. The drive train is brand new, front to the rear end. Body rot is in the usual spots (front wheel wells) so a bit of chop & weld there and the interior is rough (I'll need to redo the whole interior).
Day 1 - Saturday. Fix stuck float needle vale on the rear SU & take it for a spin to see how it runs.
Day 2 - Today. Removed the entire dash, gauges, wiring to dash, steering column.
For those not familiar with the 2000 5 speed roadsters, look them up on google images. You'll instantly want one. They also sustain a nice 140 mph in 4th
I've had a 66, a couple of 67's, a few 67 1/2's and a 68 ( all SPL's with the R series stock 1600's & 4 spds). I've had, rebuilt & worked on roadsters off and on for over 25 years and know most (or at least a lot) of the tricks.
I also had 510's (the 2 doors) from 72. 510 history goes back to the early 80's. Great cars, bloody fun.
Hopefully there are other Roadster folks out there....
Cheers.
