Hi all, I have ALWAYS owned a nissan and love them!! I was recently in a an accident..at a red-light and was plowed into by a 20yr old chunk of metal. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on how much force it took to crack the bumper guard??? any idea on MPH this guy was traveling???

Crack the bumper or the metal? If just the bumper probably wouldn't take much, but could be a wide range of speed that could cause the same amount of damage.

Why you wondering? And shouldn't the approximate speed be on the police report?

I was backed into on July 3rd in a parking lot and had the passenger side of the rear bumper pushed off, it pulled out all the rivots. If this is what you mean, it does not take much force at all. However I was hit at an angle, and if this guy hit you straight on I imagine it would take a little more. Was there tire marks from where he locked up his tires? There should be a number of tickets that he should be eligible for...Speeding, Driving/following to close, (maybe) failure to yield to brake lights (something like that)....My buddy is a cop, I will ask him if you have specific questions that are not being answered....hope this offers some help...

PS - Getting his insurance company to pay will be a long pain in the a$$, so be prepared to make 20 calls a day and demand what must be done. Gooc luck....

Thanks, but i have not received a copy of the police report yet and when i took the car back to the dealer for the repairs (scratches-some very deep), they took off the bumper and underneath is the bumper guard-which was cracked and needed replacement as well...I am just curious if anyone would know...

Thanks for your reply, and am very sorry about your accident and hope no one got hurt, these things just don't happen to me very often and yes, there were tickets issued to him and it was raining, so i don't know about the skid marks. Being that this car has that 5-star safety rating and all, i am curious to know just how much force it would take to crack that bumper guard...Thanks for your help....
