I'm new here so just a quick Hello :wavey: before I ask a question.

I have a 2005 Sentra 1.8 L engine. Yesterday the control for the vents on my air conditioning stopped working. It still blows cold ait but only out of the vent at my feet. Its better tan nothing but the sun shining through the windshield make things pretty hot inside. Has anyone experienced this problem before? It was suggested I look for a loose vac line in the engine compartment. I couldn't find any loose or leaking lines. So I'm guessing I have to tear the dash apart :tisk: (crap)

Remove the HVAC head/control unit (the ones with the knobs) See if the cable has jumped off the back of the mechanism that controls the vent location. I've seen it happen more than once on a few B15's. It's only the front trim and a few bolts and you can pull it out enough to check.

If it's the same as mine, the trim around the 12v outlet just pops off, that comes off first, then I think the trim above that pops off as well to reveal the bolts. I'll double check mine tomorrow to be sure!

Sorry for taking an extra day to reply, I'm on the evening shift at work for August, so it's been hard for me to get out to the car.

You're going to have to take a little more off than the bottom panel I'm afraid, but no worries, the only tool required is a phillips screw driver :)

I can walk you through if it if need be. Does your Sentra have the top dash bin? If it does, sit in the drivers seat, open it, and pull it towards you to remove it. You'll see a few screws for a metal bracket under there, keep removing trim until you're down to the bottom where the 12v outlet is, you'll see the metal bracket that holds the radio, and that also holds the HVAC head unit in, once you get the trim off you can see what needs to come out. If you need me to I can take pictures of mine and post them for you to see, let me know!

Thanks 06_blkout. I took the top dash bin off tonight. It was the only thing I had time to do. It popped right off. I hope tomorrow night I will be able to continue. Thank You so much for taking the time to post the directions for taking the dash apart :dblthumb: . I will post here again when I find out what went wrong with my A/C

Thanks for the walk-through James. If you feel like following through with pictures and stuff, we can publish it into an article. :)

06_blkout, Just wanted to say thanks again. I have everything apart. Turns out the spring clip that holds the cable in placed came loose. So its an easy fix. Since one of the bulbs in the heater/AC control was burned out I'm going to be able to replace that also along with the good one since I have it apart. I may actually replace the radio/cd player with an after market one. The Nissan player has had a Trans Siberian Orchestra CD stuck in it for the past couple of years. I get some strange looks listening to Lost Christmas Eve during the Dog Days of Summer  :lolling: So thanks again.... :bowrofl:

Have a 2009 Versa hatchback
which has an airconditioner that overheats and stops working within a short distance. When I took it into the dealership it works and they cannot find it. Initially there was a leak which has been repaired. Any ideas?

No ideas. Just curious, when you say overheats, what do you mean?

Just make sure the car is there for them to test under the same conditions that the AC fails in (the hottest conditions?). Maybe keep a camera and a digital thermometer in the car to document it when it happens?
