Hello everyone, Im a new poster but have been using this forum for my 2000 Frontier 5-speed 3.3L. I have a few questions to ask about maintainance for this truck. I never got an owners manual when i bought it. I was wonder how much oil 2 add when I change the oil. I can't seem to find anything written about it under the hood. I've been putting in about 5.5qts. and it seems to run fine. Just wondering if there is a set amount I should be adding? Also, I have never done the shocks and it has been a bumpy ride lately. Mainly in the rear. I was wonder what steps I should take to help it ride like it use to. I dont have much experiance with shocks or springs. Can anyone tell me what this truck uses as far as shocks/struts/springs? Is there a u/v joint I could replace as well? My frontier is a 4-door. I would like to lift it up a little in the process as well. Maybe 2-3inches. If anyone can explain a little about this process for me, that would be great. I also welcome any web-links about these topics. Thanks in advance~~

First off, you're putting way too much oil in the engine. With a new filter, the 3.3 only takes 3.5 quarts of oil.

As for shocks, that's an easy bolt on replacement. If you're going with a 3" suspension lift, there's plenty of writeups on the web on how to install one. As you get closer, I can point you to links I've written on installing a suspension lift on a Frontier. There are also several companies that sell them. Consider this before buying new shocks - the rear shocks will need to be longer.

I like Ranchos for reasonably priced decent shocks. Rancho 5188s will fit your front stock or lifted. Lifted, 5116's will fit the back.

If you do a suspension lift, look at upgrading steering components as well, as the stock stuff will become problematic over time with a lift.
