Hi i'm new to the CA scene, I drive a S13 with a SR20det red top. the other day one of my friend gave me his CA18det for free, because he bought a RB25det. The history of the CA is that he purchased the vehicle with the CA in it but the guy that had it before him never had a chance to wire it up and run it. but since the shop that he is having the RB25 put in took the CA out and left it outside, the motor looks dirty. I'm planning on doing a budget built and throw my T25 SR turbo on it. well here's some pictures.. thank you for reading guys..the motor is almost complete just missing wiring harness

I thought I got a good deal when I paid 100 bucks for mine.

If you need a harness hit me up at [email protected] I have one left.

Definite score. Be prepared to pay for a harness though. No freebie's there.

I'm also new to the CA18, I'm planning on doing a CA18det swap on my car, but I was just wondering, will the CA18et motor out of a 200sx be the same swap as a ca18det?

You shouldn't ask this question in this man's thread.

is the name of the motor the same? No, then thats your answer

a ca18et is a single cam, ca18det is dual cam

Congratulaions on a sweet gift. Please take the time and look in at least the bottom end simply due to the fact that the history of this motor is unknown. I don't like it when it said to never have been wired-up because most times there's a surprise on the other end, so please be nosy and check it out before installing it. I only said this because I don't know what you may call a "Budget build" .

yeah I totally know what you mean. I dont want to throw a motor in and put all the time to realize there's problem with it. My friend work at a machine shop so i'm planning on getting new bearings, rings, and bring it to the shop have them micro polish the crank balance the crank, rods etc. redo the cylinder wall.. Put in some new valve seals, and then i'll install everything so by the time I put the motor in it'll be a fresh rebuilt. All the machine work is free so no worries there..

and don't worry I've been reading the CA forums everyday, so I'm not going to be asking like where do I get rod bolts etc... tehehe
