You said this car isn't rare, what are you smoking?
Thats not alot of cars, and its even less considering tons of have been wrecked!
To add to the rarity, the car is VERY popular, so people buy them very quickly.
If you don't like what the price is this don't pay it and shutup
SUPPLY AND DEMAND
Uh, pills, you honestly think a production run of a quarter million cars is rare? Can I have some of what YOUR smoking? My father's Ferrari was one of 50 ever built. THAT is rare. 240sx's are not rare by any stretch, unless you compare them to a Taurus or F150. 240's may be scarce in certain parts of the country, but there are tons of them in the northeast. And if you look carefully you can easily find a nice one cheap I doubt you'll see a $10,000 stock 240sx any time soon. The people that most like 240's are young and in gereral don't have as much disposable income as, say, a baby boomer.
I had a garage queen S13 posted the NICO BST section for a quite awhile. I got lotsaa dialogue about it, but there weren't people lining up to pay me a premium to buy it. I actually sold it for far less than I thought it sell for given the hype you read about on this BB. I think the 240 is a wonderful car, but I wouldn't believe the hype about how valuable they've become. If you live in an area that doesn't have many, sure, they could easily go for more. But come to the northeast and you'll have no problem finding a nice one at a reasonable price.
