hey there guys,

Im mostly on the 240/silvia forum. First time poster here.

Well story of why i bought this car....

One morning, roads were icy, so my dad let me take his AWD SUV to school, and i let him take my car to work (just down the street). I had a command start on my old car (97 Mazda MX-6 KLZE), it was standard, but i hooked up my command start for an auto. I told him about it, but he forgot, left the car in gear, and well.... no more explanation needed lol.

this is the damage to my old MX-6

(55,000 km = 34175 Mi) :naughty:
One female owner before me, drove it for a year, traded it in for a newer model back in 99/00. The dealership used it as a delivery vehicle (apparently didnt have too many deliveries lol). Garage kept till i bought it this last weekend

for $4,500, not too bad of a deal in my eyes.

im gunna be changing the thermostat coming up this week (doesnt heat all the greatest) and change the fluids.

are there any other things that i should check over for those of you who have/had these cars?

what ya think? :mike

I'm driving it like a sane human lol. I'll check the airbox, fuel filter, and injectors when I get a chance

If it's been sitting for a while (which, judging from the mileage on an 11 yo car, it sat a lot) I would recommend an oil change, a bottle of gumout (at about half a tank, pour in the gumout then top off with premium fuel), and a new air filter. Might take a couple cycles of gumout, but that's what I did with a couple of my cars and it helped.

Also - check your spark plugs/wires. Can't remember if the KA of that model year is a distributor still or if it's coil on plug setup.

I added a bottle of seafoam and injector cleaner. No difference yet... The seafoam isn't even smoking out the exhaust...which it does if the engine has carbon and such built up in it. And the filer is clean too

Havnt gotten a chance to check the plugs yet. Really busy going to school, working 2 part time jobs and playing on 2 hockey teams. I'll keep you guys posted
