I understand that 240SX cars and 300ZX (which I currently drive) are pretty similar and some parts are interchangeble, but what I want to know is that, what weakness does the 89~94 RPS13 240SX have, if its anything like 300ZX's forget it, i want nothing to do with it!! What info im looking for is that what are common problem I might come across and whick year model is the best, and what price i should expect to pay. Im a 300ZX Guru but know very little about S13's and would like some helpful info from fellow experts for my project car.

Thanks in advance.

Biggest downfalls of the S13 are: Open Differential, and Underpowered stock motor.

if you want more stock power, get a 91-93 (MS13 or RMS13).the 89-90 has a single cam, weaker motor. (HS13 and RHS13).

RPS13 is a good car, but you have to make your own (read: motor swap)

'94 was just convertable autos

if you get one, get a 91-93. its a RMS13. it has the DOHC. and if anytime you want to swap an SR in for some reason, then you have things such as the power steering lines still available.

a 91-93 coupe would be just MS13. R is for fastback

search around a bit. all of this has been discussed a lot before

M stands for the KA...P stands for the SR. We get MS13 because we have the ka.

M is KA24DE, H is KA24E

in the US we got HS13 and RHS13 (zenki coupe and fb, with KA24E)and MS13 and RMS13 (chuuki coupe and fb, with KA24DE)

in japan they had S13 and RS13 (zenki coupe and fb, with CA18DE/CA18DET)and PS13 and RPS13 (chuuki coupe and chuuki and kouki fb, with SR20DE/SR20DET)

models with superHICAS had a K on the front, like KRMS13

Timing chain likes to break on higher mileage cars.

I've never heard of the timing chain thing. Timing chains are engineered to require no maintainence for the duration of the cars running life. Although, I have heard of the timing chain cackle, and I did have that on my altima, and it did it ever since 40k miles, so it isn't only a high mileage thing. It never took away any power, was just a little annoying at idle

well i know my friends timin chain was splitting and it just so happened we were replacing it anyway, so that saved a big hassle, its better to just replace it at about 1ook or so jsut incase, itll save u a headache later

It's a known issue with 240's. The timing chain guides are weak and cause the chain to come loose and cause the rattle. Eventually the chain comes off and can destroy the engine.:(
