Welcome to NICO.

"I was wondering if u guys had any advice for making it faster, nicer etc..."

Not to bust your balls or anything, but don't ya think that's a tiny bit vague? Just so you know, a statement like that leaves one open for all kinds of flamage.

That said, my best advice is to read the stickes in 240 General, 240 Tech, and this forum, as well as busting out a little bit of searching. All basic info will be covered via those methods. Once you have questions about some specifics (especially those not already covered to death), feel free to post them.

Once again, welcome aboard.

Here to help. A wonderful thing about Nico is the huge repository of information, great DIY articles (with pics!), and basic guides to most Nissan vehicle models. You can even find product reviews here for things like suspension, I/H/E, turbo kits, and even cosmetic pieces like aero kits and interior stuff. It's quite the Nissan lover's paradise. Stick around long enough, and I think you'll agree.

Welcome to NICO dude!!!

Faster and nicer huh... Faster.. Start by making the engine breath better. Intake and exhaust are two biggies. Then help the car handle better with suspension upgrades. Of course you will need to stop, so some Z32 brakes would be a good mod. If all that doesn't do it for you... think about going turbo.

Nicer.. Well, most 240sx 'verts have pretty shabby interiors. Start with some new apholstery or new s14 seats. Check out the info about removing the door pillars and getting new door panels. You can replace the carpet if it looks bad, etc...

Cruise the forums... especially the 'vert forum. You will find a TON of helpful info.

Did you register your car yet? Check out the 'vert registry.

One quick question.. how did you find this site... Through NICOclub.com or through 240sxconvertible.com, or other... just curious.

Again... Welcome to NICO. Enjoy your stay. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you need to. But remember to make good use of the Search button... there are years and years of incredible threads with tons of info.

As for How i found NICO i was doing research on mods for the 240 Vert and i found this.

One Quick Question about 240s:Is it Easier to Turbo a Manual or a Automatic car. Im looking to get an SR20 but if i could turbo this it would be better.

My Car is an AutomaticAny Ideas as to which turbos, if any i could put in my car.

I would kinda like to have a Huge Intercooler Also.

Thanks

Lots of options for a turbo...

1.) Turbo your existing KA engine. If you look at the links to the right you will see the KA-T forum. Do some scanning there to see what kind of turbos and costs they recommend. 2.) SR20det engine. Probably the most popular choice for engine swap to really make it a fast car. 3.) RB20/25/26det/t engines... Nice alternative to the SR20. 4.) CA18det. Less expensive, and technically the proper engine to be like JDM. The S13 silvia 'verts had CA18 in them.

All these choices can get you 300hp with some modifications. That should make you a very happy camper.

As for what's easier to turbo... Technically it's the same work for either. But, if you are going to put money into upping hp on the car, and you want to have fun driving it... I would recommend the 5 spd conversion. Do a search on 5 speed or manual conversion. There are probably 5000 threads about it. It's not too hard and not to expensive. I certainly recommend it.

In agreeance with what was stated before, an auto -> manual swap would definitely be a great idea.

A word of advice, though: a huge intercooler could also mean a huge drop in boost pressure. Unless you're running huge amounts of boost (which would require more cooling), I don't see a huge intercooler in your future.

You would be the 2nd 'vert owner with an RB26.

Here's your homework.. Search and scan the 'vert forum to find the other member who has a 26 in their 'vert.

Then you need to ask him how much money it cost to get it installed and running. I think you might be looking for an Rb25 when your done with that conversation.

I see what you mean about expense. I did see a good deal on a RB26DETT on http://www.japaneseengineimport.com for about $3100. I asked some guy on the cost but he hasnt replied yet. Hopefully This project can get finished.

$3100 is just a start. Honestly... to do a 26 swap the right way.. I'd set aside at least $8000.

The thing with the RB26dett swap is that it's not really a direct swap. You have to get an RB25 transmission and oil pan and convert to RWD because AWD doesn't work on the 240sx. After you get those items, driveshaft, mounts, wiring, etc... it get's really expensive. Plus, if you are shelling out dough for godzilla.. you better do some maintenance while your at it.... timing belt, water pump, etc... See how this thing keeps rolling up the $$$.

If you are serious about the 26, you need to do a lot of research in the RB forum before spending any $ on a motor. I see way too many projects for sale... people dive into something that they aren't prepared enough to complete.

I'm not doubting you... just warning you.

For performance, here's what I've done so far (just the tip o' the iceberg, though):

Nismo thermostat

5-spd swap

Front strut bar (very useful)

KYB/AGX with H&R springs (also huge help)

new exhaust

Injen intake

Z32 brakes front & rear (coming very soon)

Turbo (also coming soon, just need to find a new engine to bolt it to!)
