New to 200sx. Need some advice.

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

This is going to be a bit of a long answer.

First off, it depends on what model 200SX you have.

If you have an SE-R, an SR20 will drop right in (we'll get to which SR20s fit in a minute), seeing as you have one already (the lowport SR20DE).

If you have an SE or GXE, you have the GA16DE, which, if you swapped it out, would mean you'd need some work with motor mounts, wiring, pumping, etc.

So, if I were you, I'd really hope I had an SE-R.

Now, what motors fit?

Any transverse (side to side) SR20 will fit. That gives you a lot of options.

Non turbo:Any other USDM SR20 (highport - B13, lowport - B14, or roller-rocker lowport - B15)ORthe amazing SR20VE (think VTEC, but better, GREAT NA power)

Turbo:Bluebird SR20DET (T25)Avenir SR20DET (ball bearing T25)Pulsar GTi-R (T28)

Those are just the most common, I think there are a few others.

A Silvia/180SX/200SX (European) motor will not fit, it's turned the other way and has a RWD transmission.

The USDM 200SX is a 2 door B14 Sentra.

I think I got it all... check the "Turbo FAQ" up top for more info on transverse SRs.

You don't have to do any motor mount work. You will need to purchase all the motor mounts from a 200 sx SE-R, the cross member, the axles, clutch bracket & cable, SR20DE motor, 200 sx se-r transmission, 200 sx SE-R exhaust manifold & exhaust, 200sx/G20 ECU (preferrably G20, 200sx/sentra/g20 starter, nx2k radiator, 200sx se-r throttle cable, 200sx se-r wiring harness, 200sx se-r MAF... u get the picture. Basically everything mechanical from the 200sx se-r you need, to include bolts.

By the time you resourced all those parts and totalled up the price. You might as well sell your SE and buy an SE-R. That's just my opinion.

Hmm.. I always thought the GA was mounted differently.

So it's the mounts themselves, not their positions, that are different?

I learn something new every day.

The 98-99 Sentra SE-L did come with an SR20DE... I don't believe they had a 200SX of that same trim.

The SE-L is the B14 version of my car.

That is absolutely correct. They also had a B13 SE Limited, no sr though. There is a SE 200sx, no sr though. B14 Sentra SE-L, SR20 and sweet titanium wheels.

Those wheels are titanium? That's awesome, I've never heard of titanium wheels, makes sense though.
