Hey guys, long time lurker here. I recently bought my 2015 Rogue SL w/ 18 inch tires. The tires that came with the SUV are pretty loud and want to change them. I also wanted to go wider to 255/55/18 but fear it might run against the inside (?) Will this setup work without any issue?

The easiest way to check it out is to get the car on a lift and check the clearance between the inner sidewall and the suspension (through the range of compression).

In looking at specs for your desired tire size (and the OE tires for the Rogue SL), the problem I'm running into is that the tread width and section width for BOTH are really variable. I'm seeing tread widths between 6" and 7.2" for the OE size (depending on brand) and 8.5" to 9.3" for the 255 (also depending on brand).

I'd check out TireRack, look at the specs for your OE tires and your proposed purchase, and compare that to what you find when you check clearances.

Another concern for me is rim width - a 255 is pretty beefy for a 7" wheel (which is what I assume is on the Rogue SL). Beefy is good, but not if it compromises the fitment.
