Hi,

This is my first post. I have an '03 G35 Coupe and want to know where to get a good deal on front tires. The dealership charges $375 for each. I live in Atlanta.

Thanks.

Welcome abaord!

www.tirerack.com. Just for future reference, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's don't even cost that much and they are some of the best tires out there. Never buy tires at the dealership....

Great thanks! The front ones (Michelin Pilot Sport PS/2) are $225 each on that website. The rear ones are $312 though.

The dealership has been charging me close to $400 on each, installed, balanced, etc.

What about road hazard warranty?

tirerack offers that as well. I threw that price out there for those tires, because they are one of the best on the market and most expensive. I'm sure the dealer was not going to give you anything remotely close to the performance you would get from the pilot sport ps2 and you are paying over the ps2 price. The dealership is usually one of the highest marked up places to buy parts.

True. The dealer has always installed the Pilot Sport PS/2 for me though. But yes, their mark-up is higher.

How - and where - would I get the tires installed and balanced if I purchased from tirerack? Also, where can I do regular tire rotation and how regualarly should I get it done (I know tires can only be rotated side to side, not front to back)?

Thanks.

Tire Rack has a list of dealers in most areas including approx cost of service. In some cases the the dealer will allow Tire Rack to ship directly to their business. Remember even if they didn't sell you tires they are still getting dollars in the cash register for installation.

What's the difference between PILOT SPORT PS/2 and PILOT SPORT A/S? At Tirerack, the fronts are about the same price but the A/S rears are about $60 less than the PS/2 rears.

Thanks.

Sport PS/2 are strictly summer tires. Sport A/S are all season tires. I had Sport A/S on my 03 Coupe and got about 25000 out of the rears. The fronts had close to 30000 when I traded.

I would use Discount tires:
Discount Store - Place page
http://www.discounttire.com - 1189 Wylie Street, Atlanta - (404) 880-0008

Call them! They are really good and they will match the price of ANY store. Free repair, free balancing and rotating for life.

Also for you G 35 I would chose Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.Best overall tire.

Or Yokohama Advan Sport - Great tire but the tread will wear out faster that Michelin.

Stick to Michelin or Yokohama. $375 each???? Wow maybe for a super sport car...CRAZY.

Thanks! Yes, I have been spending too much money at the dealership, which is one reason I was considering selling the car and buying a Camry or Corolla instead. I had thought that being a luxury car, it would be better to let the dealership take care of it.

But since I'm getting great advice on this forum, I think I will keep my lovely and awesome G!!!

Thanks to all!

I've used Yokohama S-Drives and Toyo Proxies on my 05 coupe and loved both. Don't recommend having the dealer do the work...you will overpay!

Discount tire is great! I've used them for 2 complete sets...under 1k for everything.

So you don't really need Michelin A/S?

Those are better tires...but you'll pay more. The Yoko S-Drives and Toyo Proxies are better than the OEM rubber, you'll be happy with 'em!

I've read some reviews bout the Yoko tires where they apparently don't turn well don't hold up well in the rain and sometimes even burst... :-(
