If you aren't changing the sensor and only changing the rubber, then your car should pick it up after you drive like 15 minutes at highway speeds. That's how the Y50 worked anyway.
Only time you need the tool to reset the TPMS is when you move them to another car or replace one. IIRC/IMO.
I had after market TPMS installed in my 19" wheels for my 2007 in like 2011. I went through 3-4 sets of tires with that car and never had any issues with TPMS and never paid for a reset. Car always picked up the pressure after a bit.
I JUST got TPMS for the 2011 done yesterday, but I expect the same results.
