Anyone know how to get the tire air pressure sensors working again?

I Just put 4 new Continential Extreme Contact DWSs on - these tires are the cats meow - but 2 pressure sensors needed to be replaced and now all 4 tire sensors come up with "**" (even after driving several miles) - Anyone know if I can reset this and how?

Bought and installed at my local STS and they have a tester and verified the sensors are good but again, they're not registering on the tire pressure screen...

Anyone else ever deal with this?

Greetings
I think we have all gone through this. The tire shop probably switched your wheels from their original position and from what I know only the dealer can reset this.

Every other tire rotation I get mine back :) .

Great choice of tires IMO ...Ive had good experience so far.

Let me know if you find some other way to reset.

This has been an issue repeatedly discussed. Regardless of what anyone else says; patience is a virtue. It means give your machine some miles and days-a week of driving and presto the odds are quite good you'll be back in business. Great tires-Great Bourbon!!! :woot:

as seen on this forum, drive your m at least 10 miles maintaining a high speed, over 25mph, I think. Don't go below 25mph. It has worked multiple times for me..good luck

BINGO! Drove 9.8 miles @ 70 - 80 MPH and they started coming back! by 10.1 miles all 4 were back...

WOW .. if someone could provide some insight then. This would mean they did not change his tire position right?

Because everytime I have my tires rotated my tire pressure gets thrown out of wack for 4000 miles, until I have them rotated back.

And yes same car same interior. I love my vehicle. Have pulled away from selling it 5x already. Can't part with her regardless of her monthly payment!!!

Great choice in tires, I love my Conti Extreme contact DWS. I just had mine rotated for the first time last month, tire pressure did the same thing. Took a day or two, and a 20 mile trip on the turnpike at 65mph before it started reading again. Like Antz said, patience.

Yup. Just travel 10 miles on the highway without stopping or slowing down (as sda206 says go faster than 25mph) and they should come right back. I was doing 70-80mph for 10 miles straight out on RT 80 here in New Joisey...

And no, position should't matter regarding reset procedure - I know for a fact my rims are not in the same position - also, I had 2 new sensors installed because one was dead and the battery was almost dead on the other.... So go for a ride on the highway...enjoy your M... I know I do!

Finally got rid of the crappy Goodyear RSA's. Replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric. Incredible change in tracking and no more wandering or taking off in different directions with every little crack in the road.

However, I am still waiting for the TPMS to reset as well. Warning is not on so I really don't care.

i had this same issue after a tire rotation, and they did not reset as per the instructions in the owner's manual. I took it back to the tire shop, and they were able to reprogram the sensors with some handheld tool in under 5 minutes. Before I got out of their parking lot, all 4 were reading correctly.
