I just installed 235/45/18 General uhp's on my car. After driving for a bit testing them out the car is swaying. It is not the suspension either.

I called tire rack and they said it's called Tire squirm. Tires will firm up after 500 miles of driving.

I cant tell if they are just not well designed or if he is giving me a load of crap to avoid my return?

Anyone experienced this?

Rich,

I am now on my second set of General Exclaim UHP's. I experienced a little squirm on both sets, it goes away after a short time. Any tire which does not have a contiguous line pattern will have a little of this (If you look closely at the patter you'll see that about 2/3rds into the time tread there is an offset pattern.

My personal experience on the UHP's is that they are great tires. Running 255/35/19's.

Two cents,-- Wind

Hi Wind,

Even when the car is parked, if i push the side of the car she will wiggle and felt looser than the stock 215/55/17's...

235/45/18's should have decent sidewall strength for a performance tire no?

Rich,

That particular symptom, I do not experience. Mine sits solid, hardly flexes at all. BTW - My second set is literally 1 day old, brand new.

Does that mean you stood there and pushed on the side of your car with the stock tires and no problems just to do it?

Yes, to demenstrate the jelloness of the tires i pushed the side of the car and the newly installed 18's wiggle, which is what happens as i am driving as well, no good...

These tires are going back there simply isn't enough sidewall stiffness.
