Im getting new rims and tires for my 2006 infiniti m35x I bought it with crappy scuffed up rims and of course the place I bought it put a different tire on each rim.

1) Somehow I found brand new rims without being refurbished for about $160 per, so my question is: Is it rare to find brand new rims for the infiniti m35x (8 spoke) and is that a good price I found them for?

2) For tires, tire rack rated the pirellis really good so those are my top pick, these are the other ones Im looking at: (price range is $200 or less per tire)

Which tires do you think would do best for little to no road noise, and best traction with snow?

This topic is ripe with opinions. Most here will tell you buy what they bought as we all did our research and purchased what's best in our opinion. I'm at the bottom of the states (just north of Cuba, LOL) so there is no snow or winter here. I used to swear by Michelins until I tried the Hankook Ventus S1Noble2. They perform close enough to Michelins that I am on my second set. I have driven them up north in about 3-4 inches of snow (much less than you lot get up there) and they did just fine. I love them for the control and stability in rain. Tire Rack as not impressed in wet conditios testing, but I was saved by these tires in panic stops many times. They are quiet, and have great handling. They are also less than $200 each normally and tire rack usually has a sizable reduced price very often.
Of the ones you listed, all but one are just 'grand touring' tires and I like 'ultra high performance' tires. Of the ones you listed, I would lean towards the Pirelli P-Zero. Others in here who live in areas that get significant snow also like Continental DWS.
As for the wheels, I can't say. I changed mine out for after-market and upgraded to 19in wheels. In fact I bought them both at Tire Rack and got a huge discounted deal. They mounted and balanced the tires onto my new wheels at no charge, included road hazzard for 2 years at no charge, and delivered them right to my tire shop in about 3 business days. I belive my wheels were about $150 each.

If you wanna keep it stock, I'd go with a set of OEM Infiniti Sport 19" rims from 06-07.
Or spend a little extra and get some decent rims.
I live in Cali, Khumo tires do the job.

$160/rim is a great deal for stock 18's that aren't refurbished.

As for the tires, I've had (on both of my M's) the Continental ExtremeContact DWS, Michelin Primacy MXM4, and actually just ordered a set of those Pirelli Cinturato tires for my new 20" wheels that will (finally! after 8 months of sitting in my garage) be getting installed by next weekend.

During my 5+ years of owning an Infiniti M (4.5 years with a 2007 M35x and now 10 months with a 2011 M56x) I went DWS, DWS, MXM4, back to DWS (current set).

The Michelin's are a very nice grand touring tire...but they aren't sporty. The DWS's are much sportier. The new Pirelli's blow both of their scores out of the water (per TireRack), so I'm expecting big things although they don't have an aggressive tread pattern and look like MAJOR grand touring tires.

You can't really go wrong with either one, but I'd avoid the third set you listed. Stick to deciding between the first two. I trust TireRack with ALL of my tire/wheel needs and they don't seem to have scores for the third set...so I'd stay away. The tires I've gotten from them have never failed me (never had a flat) and I've taken my cars up to north of 140MPH many many many many times. Hell, I took my current 2011 M56x with the DWS's on the autocrass track at NICOFest a few weeks ago and surprisingly my car wasn't sliding all over the place (I wanted it to). Even at 20% tread, they are still gripping pretty good. There is a reason why I've had 3 sets. This time I just decided to try something new and also because after shelling out $1,500 or whatever it was for the Incurve IC-S10 wheels, I didn't want to drop the pretty penny on DWS's in the 20" size.

Thanks everybody, this one helped out a lot thanks so much for the information. I already ordered the rims, and I plan on getting the Pirelli Cinturato P7's I think it's a nice balance between sportyness and luxury. Don't like to listen to road noise a lot and love to feel and handle a corner well.

Actually I did some more research and these are the new tires I am looking at I like to think of them as Version 2.0 of DWS since they're kind of new please tell me your feedback on how you think they would be handeling wise and road noise. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... el=M35+AWD

They have some customer reviews posted now and after watching the test video, I'd say they are worth a try. However, the Pirelli seemed to do better in the test video. Depending on how close in price the Pirelli is, you may want to go with them instead. As we all know, those little BMWs do NOT have a comfy ride so if these tires felt good using those cars, they should do very well on our Ms.

I went with the Pirelli's last year based principally on Tire rack reviews as others have said. They've been good so far. Tramlining was reduced. Even handled the occasional snow storm last winter (I usually telecommute when there's snow). Other's have reported that Pirelli's in general do not have the longevity. Its been too many years since I had P6s on my SAABs so I can't recall. I was looking for more of a Grand Touring tire than a HP which is what I got.

My wife and I just returned from a two week road trip from Ct to Atlanta with many stops along the way and Savannah, Charleston, etc. coming back. Gauge shows 23 MPG after 2980 miles. I'll take that. Normally I get 20 in mixed driving.

I too had to recently replace all 4 tires and rims, and I paid 170/rim, so 160 is a fantastic price. Unless you want to spend some more, and upgrade to the 19" sport rims. I personally went outside the box and got Goodyear Comfortred Assurances put on mine. I had them on my old I35, and they were great. It was about 200/tire, and they're the quietest on the market. I know everyone loves Pirelli, but I just can't stand buying a whole new set every 1-2 years. That's insane to me, personally. P6's in particular will only seem to get you 12-20k miles depending on driving habits... The CTA's do amazing in snow, rain, or dry pavement. They're not super sporty by any means, but since the M can ride somewhat stiff, it's nice to have that much more cushion to it. Not to mention they seem to be pretty darn fuel efficient as well.

I might be alone on this, but I feel if you're looking for traditional Infiniti sportiness, you're buying a 45, or G. The old Q's and M's were more of a Grand Tourer than a speed monster. Just my humble opinion ;)
