I know it ended in 2005, but when did it begin, and what came before it?Even better, when did the Pathfinder first come to life as a Nissan product?Maybe the Pathfinder history been listed before, so I apologize if it has. (I didn't do a search). What about the QX4? Always curious.Thanks.
Real quick Pathfinder history:
In late 1986 the first generation or WD21 Pathfinders were intorduced with the VG30I V6 engine (other than North America they are called Terranos) which came in a 2 door style 87-89 & with a real frame. The 1990-95s have a real frame & are 4 door with the VG30E V6 or the 2.7l Diesel Engine known as the TD27 with an optional turbocharger. In 1996 the R50 was born which is considered the second generation & cam with a unibody & the new VG33E engine. In 1999.5 the R50 got the new & improved VQ35DE V6 engine with an extra 80hp (bringing the grand total to about 240). In 2005 the thrid generation or R51 came about with the VQ40DE V6 engine or the 2.5L YD25DDTi Turbo Diesel.
And oh yeah, Adam, they aren't any louder than the worn out 31 BFG's I was running & the gas mileage isn't that much different, but I can definetely tell a drop in power though. It's cool though I am in the works on getting the TD27 turbodiesel engine & swapping that in. Less hp than the VG33E but a ton of friggin lowend torque!
