I have tried already to do a search on this, so maybe somebody can point me in the right direction...Here goes: What is the largest tire that I can put on a'01 Q45t with stock wheels?? I currently have 225/55/17's on now. (H-rated Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus)

Also, Dennis says that the Michelin tires seem to be the best as far as true/ round and least difficult to balance(Hope I read his posts right)...but the feedback from tire rack customers seems to favor the Bridgestone LSH/V's.

My driving is 95% interstate, about 40k per year.

Thanks to anyone who can offer some advice.

245/45-17 seems to be very popular among the Q45 crowd, from posts I've read in the past..

Dennis is right about Michelin. They are the top tier company, and probably are the best when it comes to car tires. Others come close, and some high end companies seemingly equal the performance and ride/handling of the Michelin, but in my opinion, they are the yardstick by which all others can be measured.

The thing with good tires is, they cost more and they wear out quicker. In the 245, you have a more common size that more manufacturers build, which generally means there are affordable alternatives. Just be careful of price dictating your tire choice. Q45 is a lux barge and should be fitted with the very best tires money can buy!(probably a Michelin)!!

I have driven both on Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes platforms and have found both the Energy MXV4 and Turanza LS-H tires to be the best two in the Grand Touring category. The Turanza does offer better wet traction and will have better wet traction as the tires heat cycle and wear due to the dual layer compounds in the tread. Yes, at full tread depth they are very close and both very good, but as they wear, the Turanza gets my vote for long term traction and ride comfort. You can't go wrong with either.

Grant:

Have you compared NEW and USED average radial forces between the 2 Brands, the question was which stays in balance and vibration free longest?

We have many customers who use both brands and they all seem happy.

At least with your annual mileage you get to change tires once per year.
