hey guys, just got my windows tinted today... $180 for the tint... an extra $60 for the insurance...

i did 35% all around and it looks really nice...they included the little windows. The insurance is because cops around here are supposedly a-holes about tint, and if i get a ticket for it, instead of paying $150 to remove then retail to reapply, it only cost $100... i figured it was a good deal. Ill get pics either tomorrow or saturday, car is filthy, and im probably going to debadge it tomorrow

PS. what ever happened to those tail light overlays? i might have finally convinced the parents to let me get some

Haha what state are you in? In colorado that is fully legal tint. You should just get some "VHT nightshades" and tint them yourself

lol well its BORDERLINE illegal... im in MD... the maximum is 35... but seeing how most cars have a 95% factory tint on them, it brings mine down to like 29-34 is what the girl there said. so i figured i might as well drop the extra 160 by the time i need to replace it (if i get pulled over) as opposed to like 310 ish

Hummm call me dumb, but didn't your V come tinted from the factory? Mine seems to be plenty dark. Can't tell the percent but it's enough to keep it cool-ish inside even in hard L.A. sunshine.

haha well... im not going to call you dumb cause you are partially correct. MOST cars have a 95% tint on the windows, but that is not NEARLY dark at all, i didnt realize that it was partially tinted till i read it on here, and rolled the window down halfway to see the difference... maybe your dealer tinted the windows, some of them do that

you should ask a cop, there is nothing wrong with being safe than sorry. That's what I did, I asked the town cop he's a buddy of mine and he recommended the place he got his windows tinted at, so don't be scared :-)

the PA tint laws are awful. no less than 70% all around. even on the back windows.

but would cops really notice/ care if i did like 50% all around? i definitly dont want to push it to 35%

Wow, your tint laws are awful!!! Move up to Canada guys, here in Newfoundland, you can literally PAINT ALL windows that are behind the driver and passengers windows, so yes thats Limo tint. The passenger, driver and front windows can be tinted 30%!!

Here in Colorado, we can tint the passenger and driver windows down to 27%. Anything above 40% is not worth it IMO

Not all provinces are as liberal as NL. Here in BC for example we cant tint any of the front windows. See Canadian tint laws HERE.

I got 35 in the front here in Canada which is the legal limit, and I got 20% in the back (darker). Looks pretty good. Anyone have any problems with their film? I got a lifetime warranty on the film, plus they tinted every single window except the windshield. Cost was $200. I had it done in August 2008 and recently the film on my two front doors started peeling and curling up from the bottom. The tint guys replaced the film on both doors for free! I'm hoping it was just bad film or something and that it lasts from now on. But I'm glad I got the lifetime warranty.

Here is a pic of my Versa the day it was tinted

I am very happy with my Versa that I purchased last weekend. I am considering getting the windows tinted. I have no experience and have done some research to educate myself. Any tips would be appreciated.

Legal law here in VA is that 50% of light must be allowed into the car on front windows and 35% on back/rear. I do not want to get hassled for illegal tint but was hoping to get 40% on front and back windows and 35% on rear. Would you recommend different LTV on front/back than rear windows? How does the windshield strip look and what % do you recommend? Is 40% that much more noticeable than 50% which would result in potential ticketing?

Also, I was looking for recommendation on film. The two that I have seen that appear to be top of the line are Formula One Pinnacle Series Ceramic and Huber Optik (also ceramic). Will this interfere with cell, SAT radio, etc.?

Does anyone know of a reputable place in Northern VA?

Thanks

Could you take a picture of yourself with your car?

I'll take some pics of the tint when I get the chance.

Heh. Usually I would jump on that, but she's really nice. Give's lots of comments to everyone on Cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/id/versa_girl86

There is no limit to rear windows here in SK (mine are 20%, my buddies' are 5%), but you cannot tint front ones, which makes the whole car look retarded, IMHO.

Hey, I'm not an expert on tint, but I'm guessing it shouldn't interfere with your cell/Satellite Radio. My Versa came with satellite radio, my windows are tinted, and no problems there. Do you love your Versa yet? You just picked it up recently right? How's that going!

Good luck!

I do. It is my first new car and I am very happy. I am wishing I had integrated factory SAT radio though. I have a Sportster 5 that I am hopefully going to have installed. I am meeting with a audio shop to discuss options on where to mount the dock and player. I do not want to place it on the window. I would like for the instal to be seamless and professional looking while keeping with the symmetrical simplicity of the V interior. Anyone have any ideas or pics?

Has anyone had any luck installing the antennae in the front dash on the passenger side where that little rectangle piece is? I saw an earlier post from someone and I thought it looked great.

Thanks

Hey,

Glad that you like your V. This is my first car too that is just mine, lol. I love it. I have the factory installed satellite radio because I got the sport/tech package. However, I hardly ever use it, lol.

Good luck with your mod! Ciao!
