Does anyone know what the production dates are for 93 Qs with the new chain guides. What's the cutoff date? I was aware of the chain guide failures before I bought my Q almost 4 years ago, but I thought that I was safe. I can recall TJ from Scottsdale posting on the Yahoo forum that the problem was corrected in the 93Q. Now I'm hearing that not all 93s are covered.

That is correct 7/92 was "supposed" to be it.But some 93's after that have had the old style.

Hmmm ... so what is the current estimate of the best cutoff date? After which to not worry about the problem, that is?

I am not sure tehre is an actual <for sure> cut-off date known to anyone (maybe even including the factory).

The later a production a 93 is the better your chances of it having teh improved guides.

My risk tolerance would feel safe with a 93 out of the last couple of months of production but anything earlier than that I'd get it done soon.

Well my theory is this: since no one knows for sure, ALL 90-93's, regardless of build date, should be checked. I'd hate for one of our members to blow his engine because his was built 8/92 and he thought he had new guides. Better safe than sorry, especially with such a treasure as a Q.
