I brought my 2007 M45 in for service yesterday. I had 4 issues for the dealer to fix.

1. Car was pulsating pretty bad when braking. I had just had it in for this same issue about 8 weeks ago and they resurfaced the rotors and put on new pads. Just a couple weeks later it started pulsating again and is back in the shop. The dealer called today and said they again resurfaced all 4 rotors. When I said that is the same thing they did last time with no lasting success she said "I don't know if you are driving it like a race car or what" WTF? I am easy on my cars and even if I wasn't I would take a bit of exception with that comment.

2. The engine/exhaust rattle that has it's own thread that intermittently occurs between 2-3K RPM. I even printed out the entire thread from here on it. The dealer lady told me they couldn't get it to replicate the issue. So, I guess I am out of luck?

3. My slip indicator light came on the other day on the freeway and stayed on. The pavement was dry and I was rolling along. I had to coast off of the freeway and shut the car down. After I restarted it the slip light went off but the car a bit rough. They are replacing the throttle chamber and the accererator pedal. This seems like an odd problem fo have at only 31K.

4. An interior rattle was evident from the driver's side interior. They said they couldn't get it to replicate the issue. However, they did offer to let me drive around with the shop foreman and see if I could point out the rattle.

At the rate this car is going, I am going to have to get rid of it when the bumper to bumper coverage ends or end up in the poor house.

I feel you Bob. My M is the same way.... less the rattles or acceleration detonation or exhaust rattles you are describing. By the way, the heat shields have been known to get loose on some instances and cause a rattle at certain RPM's. Do you still have the Element exhaust system? If so, that could be part of it as they do not have or utilize the factory exhaust anti-vibration rubber nubs.

About the other stuff, really, the main reason you were bringing it in for was due to the slip light coming on and not the other stuff that has been annoying you for some time already. For the interior rattle, well, those kind of things just happen every once in a while. As for your brakes, the OEM rotors do really suck. You should have saved your money for some better aftermarket units. The shimmying from braking is coming from the front rotors, not the rears. They are just wasting time messing with the rear rotors. I will warn you though, since this is the second time they will be turning the rotors, they will be even more prone to getting warped. The thinner the metal gets, the weaker it gets. Don't expect them not to warp this time around.....as they will...even quicker than the last time.My front rotors were resurfaced at 19K miles and started shimmying again at 23K miles. The OEM rotors are crap! If I were you, I would go another route all together with your brake issues.

Good luck Bob!

It is frustrating. It is a car that gets me a ton of compliments and it does turn heads, however the way things are going it isn't a long termer.

I still have the Element exhaust on however the vibration rattle was evident prior to putting it on and I was actually hoping it would solve the issue.

I am going to talk to the shop foreman and hope to take him out on a test drive.

I am going to have to turn up the heat again if I don't get satisfaction. You know those lemon juice containers that come in the shape and color of an actual lemon? I am planning on gluing/velcroing a bunch of them to a sign that states that Infinti's are lemons. I would then stand on the public access road right outside the dealer entrance. I work nights so I could sit out there most of the day. Let's see what they think of dem apples!! (or lemons)

Bob, you should have fixed the exhaust noises prior to installing the exhaust. Now since the exhaust is louder, it's all that much harder to identify where exactly the problem is. I'm telling you, there are heat shields up close to the engine that could be causing your specific rpm range vibration noises. Make sure the techs check these components. Yes, put yourself in the tech's shoes man. You drive the car everyday, he does not. You need to go on a test drive with the tech and the car needs to do the issues you describe on the test drive. If it doesn't do it on the test drive, then don't blame the tech for not finding the issue. He's no more human than you are. None the less, i hope you get the issues resolved.

I hear you M4T5. I just have my own way of dealing with issues I guess. Ken, don't get me started on the day old pastries again!

I will try to give the guys a bit of a benefit of the doubt and work with them on my issues before I resort to wearing a sandwich board outside their business. But, my fuse is pretty short at this point.
