New tattoo problem!!

What is the BEST "around the house" stuff to put on a new tat.? I've heard the triple antibiotic cream is the best... Is that true?

True it is. Neosporin or a generic one will do fine. Make sure you put a VERY light layer on though, you don't want to keep it wet. Also, cover it when you go out in the sun (fresh ink fades easily, especially light colors). Other than that, you're good to go!

What's the tattoo? I asume this is your first...good luck keeping out of the tattoo shops now. They're addictive!!

Thanks for solving that prob. Well it's on my lower back, In the middle there is a 3" by 2.5" butterfly. Surrounding that is tribal art and at each end is a small butterfly... the tribal part and some parts of the butterflies are shaded, but i've gotta go get some color put in it soon. When it's not sore anymore. I took it like a man... it didn't really hurt!!

I would suggest Neosporin for only a day or two...then convert over to a non-fragranced lotion...I believe Curel?? is a good brand...

good advice if you use neosporin for too long the ink can bleed outside the lines of the tattoo. Curel or Lubriderm non-scented is perfect for keeping the color very fresh looking

Cocobutter is the best...I use it with all my tattoos and they are all nice and bright. My parents use the same stuff and some off there tattoos are over 20 years old and look as if they are new,they are that bright and have no imperfections to them. Some this like Tattoo Goo will cause the color to fade,I really don't recommend that stuff.

LOL! I thought only black people used coco butter. Man is that stuff thick. My family and other relatives used to use it on our skin every day, but since I ventured over to lotion every1s copying me. I cant go back to coco butter. It did a good job keeping our skin from being ashy though.

but about cocoa butter...i have a couple of black friends, and i started using cocoa butter based lotion (CVS it's like a buck for a small tube lol) and now i dont use anything but...it's good stuff

yeah... that was most definately a figure of speech.... lol!!! I am a girl. Well I have been using coco butter. My tat. is starting to peel i guess you could say. It's kinda dry, but i have been keeping it moisurized. Everyone says that it is alright. My parents get back from Mexico today so I will post pics later tonight. IF I can take a pic myself... lol!

use that baby rash stuff. I forget what it was called looks kinda yellowish. My skin was very resistant to my 2 tattoos so my artist had to dig into my skin. After i was done he gave me some vitaman E in it. Well i used that baby rash stuff for a month or so and it was done being sore.

So, my tat didn't peal or anything. It has spots from the resistance but other then that its still fairly dark.

I am looking to be done by adding on to my current ones. I need 4 more and they should be interacting with my current ones. It would look neat ill post pics when my tats are done

Wrong wrong wrong...I just recently got 2 more tattoo's and the guy that gave em to me told me to go to the Dollar Store and buy the cheap triple antibiotic ointment...Do NOT use Neosporin it has peroxide in it...Thus pulling out the color...I used the cheap crap and mine looks fine...After about a week or so...Put some kind of lotion on it..I can't remember what kind I put on was...But the lotion was oatmeal based lol...

exactly. Also dont use alcahol. That crap will dry out your tat

I was always told to cover it with saran wrap too if it's anywhere that clothing rubs but let it air out during the night.
