Hello Z enthusiasts. I bought a 90 300ZX Off a guy last year before Christmas for a deal that was to good to pass. I paid $800 for it an the guy had just painted it 6mo previously.. I'm on a cell at the moment so it's a little tough to upload a photo. Will try to upload a photo here asap. The guy that had the beauty before me had massively cut the wiring harness to pieces an couldn't get it to start. I replaced the power modulator. I forget the name exactly but it's on the front of the engine on the left but it provides the spark. I looked it up & seen that they are prone to go bad on the 90's.Anyway I plan on buying a new wiring harness soon.
-I have one quick question..(cuts out completely,falls on its face). The Z ran fine after I fixed the Spark power distributor but after the battery died now im having a small problem. Im pretty sure the battery has bad a cell cuz it's not holding any sort of charge at all. So maybe that is why it idles ok but then when I try to accelerate or after pushing on brake pedal(lights) .. So a alternator alone will not support the Z to drive.. Also I need to set the time a little better. Beyond that it's a great car in an out. I'm waiting to get it Tagged & insured.All yea & for spring. Thanks guys no big deal im sure ill figure it out...

I think you posted in the right place. Would love to see pictures of your Z.
Too bad about the wiring problems. Start with the basics, good grounds and fuses...

alt alone should power the car just fine, sounds like an afm issue, but it's gonna be a lot easier to diagnose the running issues if you can first get the charging system worked out, or just keep it on a charger or jump box untill you get it worked out, and I'll move thsi to z32

Thanks guys.. weird thing was it was running w/o a miss at all in the parking lot... As soon as I went to take it on the road it seamed as if it would shut off for a split second.. Like I said thanks ill keep trying..

There is not distributor on the VG what your talking about that delivers the spark is called a PTU.
