Say I where to prepare for a 2871r .64ar setup for now since i'm poor by going with a z32 MAF, JWT tuend ECU, and 660cc injectors, all with a stock black top turbo, but with a 2871r in mind for later. Do you think I could still run my stock s13 sr turbo for a short while as i save up for the new 2871r, or would it suck monkey balls?

Monkey balls.

Get the parts and hold on to them until you have the turbo, unless you plan on getting the JWT for your current turbo then retune at the time of upgrade.

I thought about that, but was under the impression that you sent out your old ECU to get a discount on the new one. Maybe I'm wrong.

Never had a JWT tune but how I understand it, they remove the daughterboard (I believe it's an eprom but may be wrong here,) reburn it, reinstall it, send it back.

That would make sense. I just sent them an email about the question, so I'll post the reply.

Yeah turns out you send them your old ECU and they reprogram it. And to answer my question, yes the original turbo will work fine with a setup ready for the 2871r. Thanks for the help!
