Yeah that Takiata (SP??) Engineering S15. I'd rock it. So awesome that the guy can build a 1000hp Skyline and rock a 300hp S15 as his daily driver.

too bad Super Street is one massive ad book. I understand it's necassary to advertise...but not when you have 30 consecutive pages of nothing but ads selling the same crap. Super Street has some nice pictures, but I don't think the readers care about Ricky Chu's obsession for Sharon Sotto. I only care about learning about the car, the work the went into it, and it's capabilities. I don't care much for hunting for an article through a jungle of ads. Maybe if the ads were for good products like what you'd find in an issue of Option Magazine, it wouldn't be so bad. But Super Street is not option. In my opinion, i think they're trying to hard...what became of subtlety?

I don't necessarily like the setup SS has, or the abundance of ads, but they do feature some nice cars.

I vow to do my utmost to present the community with quality pictures and facts about cars such as those featured in ss without the bs when I attend the Tokyo Auto Salon in a few weeks..so help me God (or Allah, Vishnu, Zeus, whomever you're into)

Some of the cars they feature are nice but the writing is crap. In one article they said that APC and TYC are two of the best tuning companies. Every car APC makes is crap and i didn't even know what TYC was. Then I saw an ad for their muffler tip with lights on it. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't completely owned by the companies who advertise in their magazine.

yeah..even if it was good writing, i think i would still just like the list of parts better. i don't even think apc IS a tuning company. do they actually TUNE anything? last i checked they just made rice. i saw they made little stickers that simulate the screws you use in lexan windows. gimme a break.

It's the same 2 or 3 guys writing the entire thing...everything from feature articles, to tech, to replying to the letters. Like I said before..they're trying too hard..then when they come up short, they shove in a few more ads to take up space.

Magazine sucks. Writing sucks. It's for people who care more about rims, body kits, and exhaust. I saw mustang w/ a huge SUPER STREET sticker this morning. IMO the magazine is too ricy, and the writing is gay.

i odn;t think that the magazine is too ricey i mean for the writing does sux to say the least but hte cars sure as h3ll don't...lets see this issue they have the lancer evoVII, bomex s15, the two skylines, the mugen powered civic type R and the dc5, a 71' skiyline. the issue b/f that was the HKS s15 drifter, mugen jgtc NSX, the 240 convention, and an eclipse gsx...i know that there was a lot more cars then just that in thoes mags, yes they do have a sh1t load of ads, some f^cked up posters, and they are (IMO) prodomently honda feed. in about alll their ads there is something for a honda and in every last one of their mags. you can;t go threw the whole thing without seeing an integra, or civic, or accord. why do i read them??? i don't actually read them just so of the import articles like the ones about the silvias and the skylines etc. i do have a tendency of collecting them...(just a small note) this kid that i know took all of his super street mags. that he had since two summers ago...ripped out all the articles and made one magazine with it thats pretty sad...

I saw the "Super Street" staff at Nikko Circuit last month. They were taking pictures at D-1. My friend and I were the only Americans there besides those guys from Super Street. Kinda funny how they sent two guys who just so happened to be Asian. The one guy had a big chip on his shoulder. I told him that his Magazine has too many Hondas and I was happy to see them in Japan taking pictures of cars that actually perform. Funny thing about it was these guys didn't even look Japanese.

Maybe... The Tokyo Auto Salon has got to be a good experience. I have never been to it. No they were not Japanese. They had this translator who I was talking to in Japanese it was pretty funny. Super Street probably figured it would be cool to send a couple of Asian looking guys to the D-1 Finals.

What exactly do you guys think sux about the writing in SS. Not that I disagree with you, just want to know where you think they fall short other than the car content.

it's all the small talk and bs the they be puting in the mags..."ooo sombody call Hana" or whatever that crap is and "...ooo this things is wider then rusell's mother..." that crap. it fills up the entirearticle and at the very end like the last two lines would be "...oh yeah did i mench that this was a _____ owned by _____." it's like WTF! i buy your mags to read about cars not to read about you and some other guy fighting over a model or your sex life )or lack of there is"...oh yeah did i mench there riced out posters!?

Ya, it is pretty immature and low brow in my opinion. Good Jap coverage, but the writing just doesn't agree.

The thing that really sucks is that now because Super Street and Sport Compact Car are owned by the same comapny they share some articles. Not only that but if you look at SCC since it was bought by Primedia, they are directing more attention to the "rice" crowd. They didn't cover shows before and now they cover things like NOPI nationals. Not only that but some of the writing has also declined. Before they would actually talk about the car, now its just like SS where most of the article is about how sweet the car. I hope they don't get rid of their intelligent writers, like Dave Coleman. Without SCC there wouldn't be any good magazines that focus on japanese cars.

You couldn't be more right. In the current SCC, there's an article about spending a weekend with a Ferrari...and they spend the first half page talking about farting in the Ferrari. They talked nothing about the car, barely mentioned anything about hte driving experience and just basically outline stupid crap that they did. I'm really disappointed as SCC was the one magazine I'd turn to for good info. I guess I'll stick to Top Gear, Evo, Sports Car International, and "looking" at Option mags.

It used to be i would look at super street for the Japanese cars and then read SCC for technical infromation. Now I usually just surf the internet looking for japanese sites. That kind of sucks though, because i can't read japanese.

The sharing of the stories comes from the fact that most of the major import mags are owned by Primedia and share the same offices. When times get tight, there are always stories floating around the office. You can't really blame them for that.

I have always held SCC in high esteem because of the diversity of their content. They also have some of the best photography out there. It seems that some magazines go with the flow of the scene and modify their content accordingly. Sometimes for the good sometimes for the bad.

I have always been looking for a mag that represents what is on the street. No all show cars. Real, amazing street terrors. You know there are plenty of them out there. See 'em all the time. Today, it seems all go and no show will not cut it for most of the mainstream mags.

I want to read a mag for inspiration for my own projects. I dont want to see things that are not streetable or unattainable. Well, maybe the occasional racer.:ylsuper

I dunno, SS's not THAT bad. A lot of cool jap coverage, they have their fair share of nice cars. Yes they do have waaaay too much ads and crap, but they gotta pay the bills. Plus I think some of the captions and **** are pretty funny, like the one with the Hirata engineering silvia, when they showed the Bomex decal on the side and the caption read "flaming robotic alligator, I choose you!".
