new style injector adapter install help

I can't seem to get them to seat very well, I'm having to use the metal adapter that fits over the bottom of the injector for using a new style injector in the old style rail. I'm using Vaseline to grease it up and installing the adapter on the injector first then pushing the whole thing down, even with quite a bit of force and twisting etc they will not stay down!!!? Any tips?!?!?!

93 NA already has new style injectors.

Just gotta keep at it. Getting those injectors in sucks. I ended up having to use a pair of pliers to give me extra grip going down, otherwise, it was destroying my hand. Pretty sure I also ended up clamping the fuel rail into place the best I could using a janky system. Once you get your first one in you'll have a better feel for it.

Yup, actually found this out yesterday! Now all I have to hope for is that this motor wasn't a post wreck swapout. Carfax doesn't report a wreck on it but I've had three independent mechanic friends, whom I trust completely, tell me it was definitely involved in some kind of accident.
