I just installed a new stereo on my automatic 97 pathfinder. The old stereo was aftermarket and I just plugged the new one in exactly the same as the old one, but now my car wont start. Everything electric works--lights, wipers, new stereo, but the engine wont make a sound. I tried jumping it multiple times but with no luck. The battery is only a couple of months old. Any ideas?

Difficult to tell without more info. Did you put it back in park assuming you had to move the gear shifter while taking out the radio? Can't remember where the radio is in that vehicle and if you have to move the gear shifter or not.

Have you checked any wires with a meter or test light? Check the crank wire at the ignition or at the starter?

...check your fuses. if all good, make sure your ignition wires and make sure that they were not messed with.

Does the starter click when you try to start it?

i don't know jack about pathfinders but something may have shortcircuited. Take the radio out and make sure all the wires are running to the right plug on the radio
