I've been looking into getting new seats and a new steering wheel. Getting a small-diameter steering wheel with no controls to allow for an easier exit of the vehicle. Also planning on getting a quick release hub to go with it. Anyone have experience with swapping steering wheels and seats? I'm trying to get rid of the controls and power seat function (I like adjusting stuff with my hands) so wires and all that will not be an issue. Is there like a stock "size" for our cars? Or will any aftermarket steering wheel / seat fit? Wanna get this straight before going balls out on my next purchase(s).

You are choosing to give up your airbag?

Not only the airbag in the steering wheel, but the seats too.

this sounds like a great way to injure yourself in the unfortunate situation of getting into an accident. airbags are there for a reason, in both the seats and the steering wheel.. doing this to a daily driver is just not a smart idea!

In all honesty, I couldn't care less about air bags. If it's my time to go, it's my time to go. Just wanted a smaller steering wheel but I guess not switching would save some green anyways. *cha-ching* Two grand in my pocket.

I'm guessing you're getting out because your steering wheel is tilted up a bit. I like my steering wheel real low and I drive "under-hand."

Do you use 2 hands and shuffle steer?

The National Guard coupe had a Momo steering wheel so for you to install an aftermarket wheel is just a matter of finding the correct size hub. The size of the steering wheel itself is your own preference. Just be aware that it will change your lock-to-lock range and you will have to get used to the difference in steering wheel angle and direction of travel. Since you are concerned with getting in and out you should get a short hub or a think quick release if you wanted one. Check out Momo, NRG, Nardi, etc. You might have the best luck just calling their customer service and asking them to recommend a hub that will fit the altima.

Worst idea ever The only reason Im typing right now, is because airbags probably saved my life back in 2000. But, do what you want

yeah, similar experience for me also back in 1996.. airbags definately saved my life! (Or at least it prevented a broken nose and fractured facial bones)

Same here, i got into an accident before i got my coupe. The airbag punched me in the face. I doubt i would have survived with out it.

The altima has 3 airbags for the driver. I feel so safe in my coupe.

and this is a bad idea in general

You should also invest in a roll cage if you go along with this

Really? They inspect for airbags? Didn't know that. Is that a Ruger right there?

for starters- the seats are plenty comfy... i dont see why u need new ones- they are supposedly light too- even w/ the driverside motor. a few lbs, just like our back seat (which can easily be lifted up i might add) and im 6'3'' so i'll vouch w/ PheNoM on this one.

the lumbar support is manual and super comfy- get used to it lol

steering wheel is probly ingenious if ur holding the wheel w/ ur left, rite where ur thumb is at the channel up an down... i dont understand how u can even drive a cvt w/ it all the way tilted down... unless ur a midget.

if u bought ur car, the first thing u do is sit in it for extended periods of time... if ur not comfy in the car, dont get it. I could see if ur gna race it and kick those dam scion tc's back to yesterday, but if this is ur daily driver- i'll finish my rant:

-DONT EXPECT UR STATE INSPECTION TO PASS W/ AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON-DONT EXPECT ANY LENIANCY IN CAR INSURANCE AND A VOID IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.-CAR NEEDS TO BE UP TO CODE AND CONSIDERED 'SAFE'

basically- bad idea for a new car/daily driver. esp w/ all the gizmo's and electronics or ur gna have to reset the ECU like- twice a day or have the lights on the dash flash so much u get a seizure lol

but hey- to each his own. some ppl like to live and not be in constant debt cus you have to pay for someone elses medical bills out of pocket
