Hello all i have a 97 Maxima 100K runs mint --bought it new in 97--My question is my starter slowly died--i was getting a slow crank just not enough to high spin the max to start it--anyway--I think i made a boo boo--I bought and installed an after market starter-Which the first week started the car with high torque--it was beautiful--However each month after that install i noticed the starter didnt have that torque but it still started the car--Today 6 months later from the new install--I'm back to the way my old starter was--it cranks with a strain--its week-The engine cranks and sometimes stops the starter while it cranking--Same issue as the original starter with 100K! Should i buy a nissan starter or try another after market? Thanks all!!! MARK NY! Other then that car runs MINT-as it did new!!

It would honestly depend on where you bought your current starter. If it still has warranty/lifetime warranty, I'd just get it replaced.

You probably bought a remanufactured starter that the auto parts places typically sell. Well, with anything that isnt 100% new, there is always a chance that it will go out sooner than expected. Get it replaced under the warranty and hopefully you'll have better luck
