My '93 240 SX SE has a problem starting. I replaced the starter, battery and terminals. The starter won't fully engage. I hear one click and nothing or sometimes it starts. I was told the main relay may be the culprit. I can start the car by using a jump wire off the positive side of the battery directy to the starter with the key on. Has anyone had this problem and what might be the root cause? Thanks, Matt

Check your terminals and ground connections. If you are getting a click from turning your key but wont start but can hotwire it from the battery then seems your connection to the starter from your ignition may be bad. Check the voltage going to the starter at the ignition and at the starter if the connections are good.

Sometimes when the starter isn't working; I get 1 click. And if I turn the key and to ON about 10 times....then the starter works. It seems to do this only after driving around and having the engine hot. My starter is 6 months old

had same issue before had wires fried from the ignition switch to the starter was so bad had to run new wires or have to tear into the wire harness. check the ignition switch first and got from there
