I just bought a 91 240 in excellent condition.... but the stock audio system is completely broken. All of the speakers are blown and the tape deck barely even turns on. My question is will I be able to put something other than a 4x6 speaker in each of the stock locations? It looks like i might be able to put 5.25" speakers in all around, but I'm not sure. I'd like to put infintiy perfect 6.5's in front and 5.25's in back if possible.... thanks for any advice you can give me.

you need to specify hb or coupe because the speaker sizes are different in each.

I'm gonna assume that you have a HB because the coupe has 6.5's in the back already.

I have a coupe so I don't know personally about modification in your back speakers (although i have heard of people using 6x9s back there), but I fit 6.5's infinity kappa components in my front doors.

I put 6.5" Xplodes in the doors of my RH... they sound fair. 8" pyles in boxes in the back fill them out.

I'm going to see about putting some 6x9's in the door... surface mount. I'm hoping the extra height will give me some magnet clearence for the window. I imagine I could build the door out alittle if I need to as it appears slightly flexible there.

I have a HB and have put 4x6 infiniti kappas front/rear then custom mounted 2 6x9's in the hatch cover connected to an amp. The 4x6's are so crisp and clear with the highs, and the 6x9's give the touch with the mids/lows and the bass. You can definately cut out some of the door with a dremel tool, but there would be alot to drill out to fit the 6x9's in the front. In the rear not sure what you could do, you could always mount them underneath the rear little window in the HB, I was thinking of putting another set of 6x9's there too! GOOD LUCK...

I was saying that simply bolting the speakers in doesnt sound good to me. I want to put dynamat over the metal and maybe that will help.

aside from that, I want to add some 6x9's in boxes, as I dont ever ever have the rear seat in.

Make a custom rear back seat that would resemble the 300zx 2 seater. I was thinking of doing that anyway....the back seats in the 240 are so pointless. HEHE

just a crazy though here.... what if I put two speakers in the back of the back seat of my H/B and kept the back seat folded down most of the time. That way the speakers would be angled straight up and would make for more of a spacious sounding area. If I then had two 5's in the front doors an say one 12 in the back I can imagine that would sound pretty damn sweet. What do you all think of that setup ???
