i just aquired a set of NGK iridium spark plugs for my ka24de

i installed them and then started the car, idled for about 2 min then shut it off and went inside... when it dawned on me...

Do they come with the correct gap from the factory? (got it through PDM Racing specifically for that engine)

when u first get spark plugs are u supposed to adjust the gap or are they fine to begin with? sorry for the n00b question :pface

I'm pretty sure they are pre-gapped... my Denso iridiums came with plastic covers over the ends to prevent something hititng the end of the plug and changing the gap. If yours had something similiar they were probably gapped properly.

do NOT gap those iridiums. You will snap off the conductive material on them. They come pre-gapped from the factory and do not need you to gap them and more likely than not break them.

yes, you need to gap your iridium plugs to whatever your setup is.

on a turbo car, gap them to .028. do NOT do this by banging the electrode on the ground to close the gap. this is how idiots break the conductive material.

are they BKR6EIX-11's ?? That means they are gapped to 1.1mm ,or approximatly .044" from the factory.

if you are told NOT TO GAP the plugs... then they come to factory specs... but i would check anyway

i think the only plugs you dont gap

are platinum 2's and 4's

You have a small range you can regap platinum plugs... once you set them you are not supposed to re-gap them.

I don't know jack about sparkplugs either. I'd like to learn more. I've heard of going to "colder" plugs when you turbo and such, but I don't really know what that means. Any one want to enlighten us, or atleast direct us to a good site? (Sorry for jackin your thread poot)

I don't understand what you mean by "peace of mind", that makes no sense, in no way will an iridium plug provide any kind of protection over malfunction than a platinum plug or even a regular NGK plug for that matter.

Hey poot, thanks for the link. That explained my question perfectly! I always forget about that site. I bookmarked it this time though.
