Anyone know if it is possible to resleeve the cylinders or where they might be found to purchase? Had a friend asking and I told him I would post to try to find out. I know this is possible with american made V8 engines but the VH is in my opion kind of a "special breed" so I didnt really know and now im curious myself. Thanks in advance.

Mine are being done to take my engine out to 98mm bore. Apparently you bore the old ones out then fit new ones. My engine shop tell me it's no big deal.

How far are you into the engine rebuild? Is 98mm close to the limit on the VH?

The new VK56DE (as found in the Armada, Titan & QX56) has 98mm pistons. That engine is based on the VK45DE which is based on the VH.

Please keep us posted on building your engine. What will the final displacement be?

While it is dimensionally similar to the VH series, the VK series is an open deck design as opposed to the closed deck VH series. Other detail differences abound.

Does this look like an open deck design to you?
