hello everyone, ive been in the search for a skyline and i have found alot of good info on this forum. i live in the US and luckily i have found a few locally here that are already "legal". the one im currently looking at is a silver 1992 r32 gts-t w/85k km(which i think is somewere around 45kmiles). IMHO the car looks like it has way more than 40kmiles on it. just wondering if you guys have any advice for me on what to look for on the car?

here is the link to the pictures. any and all advice is greatly appreciated. http://modifiedcartrader.com/m...0GTST

he wants $14,500 for the car which i think is a bit too much. what do you guys think?

here is a mod list.

the fact that you said legal like this "legal" tells me it isn't. Fact is if it isn't a Motorex car with a DOT bond release letter than it isn't really legal. You need to decide if the potential risk is important to you.

A gar like that on this end of the world is worth tops, $3500.

I agree with TMS. Usually, modded T's go for dirt cheap, unless they are 600hp boulevard bruisers. If it were an R, it would be closer in range to the $10k mark here, depending on where it was being sold.

If it is a Motorex car, then that price might be decent considering what most legal Skylines are being sold at.

And, 40k kilometers on a 92, while not sounding completely suspicious is a bit concearning.

Now, if it was 40k miles, it would be about 65K kilometers, which would be about right. My 90 Laurel had 100k kilos on it when I bought it 3.5 years ago.

Take a real close look at the odo and see if the numbers look like they are aligned right. If not, don't take the car unless the seller gives you the actual miles. If it looks legit, you make the decision on whether or not you want to buy it.

EDIT: Just re-read the post. Yeah, 85k on the clock would be closer to 53k miles. That's about right for a JDM car. No worries there.

the reason why i say "legal" is because im not sure on how legal it is. i know the car was titled in 2 other states before now and currently he has a title for florida that says nissan skyline. does that sound legit?

If it doesn't have an EPA bond release, it's not a fed legal car. There would also be MotorEx paperwork to go with it.

is there a negative side to not having all of these things you are stating? can they take the car if you get pulled over? or can the govt take the car?

They would have the legal right to make a big deal out of it but so far I know of no instance where it has happened. That is not to say that some senator's kid doesn't get killed by a JDM loving guy in a grey market Skyline tomorrow and your new car becomes public enemy #1. Personally I wouldn't risk it but it's your money and thusly your decision.
