*copy-pasta'd from my intro thread over in the 240SX general discussion thread*

Howdy folks, figured I'd introduce myself since I'm finally an S13 owner. I've been the owner of a 1984 Nissan 300ZX 50th Anniversary Edition since 2009 but I figured it was finally time to branch out to the s-chassis game as well.

Well I guess without further ado, here she is:

Image

She's a '91 hatch with a CA18DET swap and a bunch of goodies. Silvia K's aero, Seibon OE style CF hood, 17x9/18x9 Nismo LMGT2's, Cusco strut tower bars, Nismo power brace, full poly suspension, SPL RUCA's, HKS 256 cams, Walbro 255, A'PEXi N1 3" turbo-back, Koyo rad, XS Power FMIC, TiAL BOV, Forced Performance 20G, Spec stage 2+, S15 helical LSD, Stillen BBK (AP Racing 4 pots, Z32 rear), Z32 MBC, Central20 ROM tuned ECU, Bee*R rev limiter, R32 GT-sT steering wheel, 180SX interior with manual seat belts, and some mad tyte JDM y0 dual projectors with yellow fogs.

I've heard this is the place to be when it comes to the CA18, so I'm hoping NICO lives up to the reputation.

Plan is to go full kouki 180SX aero from the skirts back. At least, that's the plan so far. Hoping to daily the car for a little while if it winds up being a fairly reliable set of wheels.

Looks nice! Welcome!

Do you have any more pictures of your front brake setup? I have the same one, but I have never actually had it on the car. Lets see under the hood too!

Quick snap of the wheels/AP calipers up front. I can get one with the wheel off tomorrow.

Quick snap of the bay as well.

Don't need to see one with the wheel off, thanks! Looks like an awesome car, congrats! Those brakes look awesome as hell. Do you have a 300zx master cylinder or anything? How do they feel?

Yeah I've got the 17/16" Z32 master brake cylinder. I've heard the pedal feels weak if you go BBK without an upgrade to the MBC, but the pedal is stiff and tight; feels amazing (bow chicka bow wow).

Heyyyyyy, my old car. Take good care of it!

EDIT: Don't go looking for a coilpack cover. PM me your address on here or 240atl and I'll send ya one. I meant to get it to Jamielle, but anyways.

Awesome, I was just looking at some today lol. And don't you worry, I plan on taking great care of this car. Hell, it may get kouki aero and 180sx quarter windows...

I'm restoring a set of 17x9s for the front of my S13. Bunch of questions coming...
What tires are you running? Spacers? Rubbing? I'm going to guess you have the +38 17x9s?

Also, What size are those rotors?

255/40/17, 10mm spacer, slight scrub at full lock.

Rotors are 13"

EDIT: The wheel spacer was necessary for 2 reasons. It kept the wheel/tire off the front strut, and because the calipers are too wide.

I've always wanted to do a sileighty conversion. I'll be going for that once I get a new shell :)

Excellent. Thanks for the reply! Now I can install with confidence knowing that my wheels will fit. I didn't know a 255 would actually fit under there that well. Cool!

Alright, I figured they were big. I've got 13'' on mine as well but with just Z32 4 pot calipers. I know that the LM-GT2 can barely stuff all those brakes in there. I'm trying to find another set of track wheels that will fit the brakes....

Good luck. I thought I could maybe fit my set of crown vic meshies on the car just for the sake of daily driving, but I'm pretty sure those won't clear the calipers up front.

I think the only normal wheels are going to be 18s that will fit. For reference for anyone who is curious. This is how little clearance there is with a 13"/330mm rotor plus caliper.
Q: do your pads properly line up with rotor? I know some of the big brake kits don't quite match up. Just curious since your using different calipers.

Those appear to be the rotors that came with the kit, so there should be no problems with anything lining up. Its a Stillen/AP Racing 4 piston BBK for the Z32 300zx.

Like so: (sorry to sidetrack your thread, bud!)

No no, don't worry about it. You answered the question for me so no harm done.

^since you have your calipers off the car, what pads are you running? I've got some EBC Greenstuff pads on mine now but the passenger side one just started hitting the squealer and I figure it wouldn't hurt to order some new ones. No idea what part number they are though.

I don't think the pads have squealers, I think that's just part of the brake pad compound. But I could be wrong. I may still have the box from the first set of AP Racing pads, so I'll see if I can find a part number for them.

As for the clearance issues, be sure to run a very short valvestem up front. I couldn't even put the cap on there because it would strike the caliper. It has maybe 1/4" of clearance without the cap on there, no BS.

r34 gtr, those calipers are identical to what I had, and I had the one piece rotors initially...but I ended up putting on the 2 piece rotors with the aluminum hats, and the weight difference was substantial.

Hey, Peter. It's Matt. I see you found your way to where the true power lies :chuckle: Anyways, congrats on the car. I knew it was suppose to be clean, but I had no idea of the magnitude to which that was true. Looks like a nice ride, and I bet that thing screams. Well, welcome to the forum, buddy.

The fact that I actually like these motors should let you know that I lost my marbles long ago. But yeah, I'm permanently in Huntsville, unlike some people, lol. I take it you're up here for the drift event? Well I'll have to come by tomorrow some time if you aren't leaving before then. Or possibly tonight if I have time. I think I still have your number. I'll be sure to hit you up.

Word of warning...keep a spare set of fresh spark plugs in the glovebox. That Bee*R rev limiter will foul them out if you enjoy it as much as I did, haha. Same with the exhaust gaskets.

But if you haven't laid into it already in traffic at full throttle...the look on people's faces when that shotgun blast goes off through the tailpipes will have people slamming on their brakes if they're behind you. It never got old. ;)

You don't say. Lol Jamielle said he just had to replace the exhaust manifold gasket. Plus the one after the resonator is blown and needs to be replaced.

I've been trying not to hit the Bee*R frequently just to keep things running as good as possible, but sometimes it'd be a waste not to if it's the right opportunity. It's especially fun when going through tunnels, oh the sound and fireballz

Forreal though, I really appreciate the time you put into the car. It's more complete than 90% of other 240's I've seen, plus I just threw 500 miles at the car over the weekend and it took it all without missing a beat.

Glad to hear it's treating you well, man. I've always tried to make sure that car was done properly, with minimal use of zipties. ;) I wanted to have something I could drive to the track, beat the hell out of it, and drive it home...and in order to do that, you can't cut corners. But that's the other reason why I never slammed it on coilovers, or put stupid stanced wheels on there that would ruin the fenders, etc. I wanted it to be able to drive anywhere at anytime. It ain't the fastest 240 out there, but it's still fun to drive and that's what is most important.

I have Hawk HP Plus I believe. I have a new set in box, so let me see if I can find a part # for you. No idea how well they work, as I have never had the brakes on the car (despite owning them for close to a decade).

Threw my cheapo bike rack on with my yakima rail and got my bike down to school with me. The rack worked awesome for being a cheap universal one.

Found some ants swarming on some dead bugs on the bumper cover. Hosed the car down, got the crap off, and drove around for a little while hoping I got the majority of them. Got back, found some more just hanging around, so I pulled the bumper cover off and found a s*** load of them on the bumper. Sprayed it down with some Raid, hosed everything back off, and drove it some more to let everything air out. Hopefully it was nothing big since there's no trace of the little f*** in the interior.

The two hoes finally got to meet the other day. Fixed the hellatiously leaking exhaust and found the clutch slave has a tiny leak going on. Ordered an OE 3/4" bore one and should have it in the next few days.

Forgot to ask...

Did Jamielle include that bottle of DOT 5 brake fluid?
