New shocks and springs for ride comfort (b16)?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi Guys,

Long time reader, not a bit poster. However I have a question.

My current b16 has 67K miles on it. The suspension is pretty much done, at least thats how it feels. I have been looking around online and reading threads. Many people upgrade their stock setups for coilovers. Which might be a good idea for some, however, in my case I don't really care about the performance and super handling. I average out about 20K miles a year, so I really care about the ride comfort. Since the coilovers would give a more rougher ride, I need to get some shocks and springs.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a nice set that would allow me to keep or even improve the ride quality?

Also...

I have been also thinking about lowering the car a bit, not a lot. I would imagine that the comfort would go down a bit with lowering springs. Any ideas for this setup?

Thanks a lot :)

For a lower stance and better comfort, Coilovers is the way to go - more expensive than lowering springs but the struts and springs mesh together a lot better. I see you have an SL so I think the coilovers will suit not only you but also your car better. Do some searches online and see what you can find for the Sentra B16.

I'll second this, I had S-Techs on my B15...which actually softened the ride over stock lol. But I came across a really good deal on some Tien Basics...and it has to be one of my favorite mods I've done so far. Comfort + Handling cannot be beat.

Well, the S Tech are lowering springs, which are not available for the B16. The Tien Basics are coilover however also not sold for the B16. Not that many products for the B16 out there

I did a bit more research and as far a coilover sets go. There are the KSport Kontrol Pro, Megan Racing and d2 racing. The d2 are way out of my budget. Whereas I heard some bad things about the KSport and Megan Racing. In both cases they would make the rides stiffer, at least thats what many users online say.

As far as other options, I found that KYB Gr2 are made for the b16 and no A. With those I would probably add H&R sport springs. The only thing wondering me is, how much would this affect the ride comfort?

Thanks :)

A good coilover setup will allow you to adjust for whatever comfort setting you want. Most if not all have 30 way dampening adjustment. By the time you buy a decent set of shocks & springs you could spring a bit more and get coils. Check out the BC Racing Coilovers.

I know I was using them as a reference lol.

Like RED_DET said, check out the BC's. A few people I know are on them and absolutely love those coilovers.
