So I was getting gas at the local shell gas station and picked up a brochure about their new V-power premium gasoline.

It basically said it had 5 times the detergent then the minimum required, wont such a high concentration of detergents be harmful for the rubber parts in our fuel system (AKA rubber seals on the injectors)? Since it’s not recommended to use detergents (aka fuel additives) in Nissans…?

All gasoline that you buy from the pump is primarily detergents anyway. I would say it will have a negligible effect, if any, on your car's performance (power and longevity).

Oh yeah, and a fuel additive and detergent are two different things. A detergent is added by the oil company (ie. shell), while an "additive" is added by you.

Not exactly. A detergent is added by the oil company when they pick up oil from a pipeline. The idea of the detergent is to formulate the fuel to burn cleaner, more efficiently, etc, etc. An additive is something you buy at pepboys or autozone. It's when you attempt to boost octane levels, or really want to clean out your fuel lines. It's *sorta* the same thing, but the oil company's detergents have been engineered and designed to work in all cars. Most aftermarket stuff you find is just an advertising gimmick.
