i just need to know what do you think of this set up.the last time i spoke to a so called turbo expert he said my turbo will work fine.but after a blown motor i found out that they were way to small.so now i need an opinion before i start making any manifolds. (1)turbo: garret to4z 1.15 turbine .7 compressor 84mm wheel.(2)tial 44mm w gate.(3)tial bov i dont know the size.looks masive. (4)haltech e11v2 with boost controller.(5)r33 gtr injectors or vk56 if theese are bigger than vh45.(6)malpassi regulator.(7)walbro in tank and bosch motor sport external pumps. i have a 1000x520x76 i/c but unsure if i'm gonna use it.any advice on this will be a graet help.

The R33 GTR injectors are 440s.. Nice medium between the 370s on the VH and the 555s as an upgrade on the Z32 (or RB for that matter). Dont know how big the VK56 are but I cant imagine theyre bigger than 370, but I could be wrong...

That turbo looks about right to me. A/R could be a tad to big but that won't hurt anything. Just give you a little lag if it is. My turbine a/r is much smaller but mine is a rear mount. Siju has a turbo in his Q45 in the front and he's got a .96 turbine if I remember correctly. If the header piping is kept short you should be fine.

Oh, and Tial only makes 50mm BOV's so I assume that's what you have.

I have a T04z with 1.15 a/r and a 50mm wg. The wastegate is on the limit of being too small. I running 10psi and we are getting 0.3psi creep by 6000rpm where the rev limiter currently is. I'm not switchin g the cams yet either. The reason for the low rev limit is I still have factory (370) injectors so are running out of fuel.I'm not currently using the EBC as the I have boost by 2000rpm and 10 by 3000rpm. Next time on the dyno once I have fitted softer spring and bigger injectors, the VVT and EBC will be setup as well. AT that point I'n expecting aroung 450rwhp, currently it has 375.I am using the factory Q45 pump to feed surge tank and Bosch motor sport pump (044) from there.

So I think the turbo is fine, I find the small amount of lag is an advantage as it lets you get off the line before the power really gets going. But upon saying that there is not sudden rush of power it just starts from iddle and keeps building. ie very drivable and predictable. The wastegate is too small, I'd go for bigger than 50mm, but that does depend on boost. If you are running higher boost then the 44mm 'may' be big enough.

I should add, if you are getting your turbo from Boost Extreme (the Garrett agents) then I assume they will be specing it the same as mine. My brother-in-law is a Garrett agent (in Auckland) and he got them to spec it and they were spot on. I think the particular guy is Andre or something like that, but he knows his stuff!

I'll try and get the specifics for my turbo as all I know is what I've told you. But I'd be suprised if it is any different with that a/r as there seems to be limited options available in NZ.What are you planning as far as HP, revs, cmpression etc?I'm running standard compression, 10psi, and avgas. I also have an Autronic ecu and cdi. Have you got manifolds yet? My brother-in-law can do them and has already made 2 sets so has a pretty good idea. He did the ones for the Import X Navara and mine (obviously). Topgear Autotech is his business if interested. It is worth getting him to do some work just to see the other cars in his workshop!!!!!!!!!!

cheerz bro, the manifolds i do my self hp wise anything above the crappy stock hp.the car its going into is a old race car that i made into a street car.it has a spece frame chassis so its very light.its not in country yet cause i crashed it years ago,but its being body swapped should be done april 08.the reason i'm using this turbo is ,cheap, not to small, avalible option to go big hp if needed.where is your brothers place i would like him to do the tunning after i set it all up.good to have someone with vh knowhow to tune it.thanks again.

Kerry doesn't do dyno tuning, he is a fabricator. ie rollcages, space frames, manifolds etc etc including complete racecar builds. You should see the Evo8 drag car he's doing at the moment!!!!!! He's in East Tamaki. Ph 2733947. He doesn't overly advertise where he is due to what is normally in the workshop. Auckland Performance Tuning in Papakura did the dyno work on mine. Be aware if you talk to them they will want an Autronic in it, which with my results I would reconmend. I put a Link plus G2 in to start with but ripped it out and sent it back for a refund due to it having issues with the EBC interferring with the coresponding injecter. ie if Aux 7 is ebc then inj 7 would fire for the wrong time causing a miss. Not a problem of a 4 or 6 but an 8 it stuffed it completely. With the Autronic I'm not running anu idle control and it starts first time every time and idles perfectly just by it adjust fuel and timing! The Idle control solenoid has been removed completly! It isn't a cheap up front option but since I've had it running nothing has needed to be touched! All we are going to do is retune after changing injectors, wastegate spring and setting up VVT.

yeah i had heaps of problems with a link my self.it was not mine tho,so when i blew the engine i took it out and returned it.but yeah lots of people love the link.i personly hate it and prefer factory ecu because of its safety features.i have a haltech cause of its anti-lag software and it was cheep.

Link is good for do it yourself as they give heaps of support to the end purchaser. But they are unreliable and I'm not prepared to put up with half arsed gear, particulary when it has cost $2k. The Autronic has cost about $3500 but when ou take into account dyno time at $120 an hour, the Auntronic becomes a cheaper option very quickly. At present the ecu has limits set for map, engine temp and intake temp. I don't what other protection you need? I also can have antilag as is standard feature but I don't use due to being an auto. The bigest thing ou get with a higher grade ecu is reliabilty and ease of tuning, if the right person is doing it. Once the setup was done and the truck was ready for power runs, it took about 2 hours to tune it, and the only thing that isn't setup properly is the over temp limits are set to 4000rpm. That is more a use problem as on the track that would be noticed very quickly but offroad I can spend a lot of time below that but still working hard.
