hey guys, finally got my car back in action heres a few shots of everything, but my main concern right now is still cooling, the 2 12" fans i had last year weren't enough, esp on those 90 deg days at the track. this winter i moved my radiator support forward to gain clearance for the clutch fan. it will fit but im curious as to what shroud i can use. tried the KA one and its wayy off. im not sure if a SR will work but im assuming not since the upper rad hose is on the wrong side. can anyone chime in? or have any ideas on how to build one perhaps? or maybe i can source a skyline one somehow, oh well like i said heres a few pics of the set up.
list of what i did this winter
- tubbed the front, new rad support
-modified a nozzs exh manifold to work with LHD,
- new head gasket, head studs, otherwise stock internals
-garret gt3582r ball bearing turbo (thanks flatrate!)-welded on 3" vband for DP
-tial 44mm MVR gate
-z32 ecu with nistune
did a lot of other stuff too much to remember

i did the tune with myself and a buddy, haven;t dynoed yet but its ripping around GREAT at 1 bar. spool time is very good wastegate opens before 4k couldn;t be happier
first what it was last year...

i got more if anyone is curious, just figured id share. it was a long project with covering a lot of different stuff but it was all worth it as it runs awesome. thanks for any help or suggestions on that clutch fan if anyone can chime in.

My setup works great without a shroud: RB26, Stock clutch'd fan, 2" alum dual core.

Nice stuff here. How is that manifold working out for ya? Seemed decent when I checked runner/flange thickness.

Your car sounds nice man, sounds like mine used too... :(. Also you did exactly what I'd like to do with my core support and wheel wells... I just lack the garage and tools to do so. Nicely done.

Looks like you have the tools to do some fabbing I'd make up a nice aluminum fan shroud like so... (something I modeled up really quick, I didnt put mounting tabs on it but you should get the idea)

A shroud will control the direction of the air flow really well and pull a nice suction through your entire radiator surface area giving you very efficient cooling.

by the R32 fan shroud there super cheap and will fit with some trimming on a s14 radiator or just put an R32 radiator in it... r32 radiator is 1 inch taller than an S14

any idea where to find them? and thanks for the compliments, i put the clutch fan on today and without a shroud it already made a huge difference, need to do some ducting for better cooling from the front, and then just either that r32 shroud or i will make one out of aluminum like you posted

update:

so the car was overheating after i had changed out a temp sensor, didn;t seem to want to work right with the clutch fan so i tore some stuff apart and re-looked at everything. my thermostat didn;t seem to be opening very much up so i took it out for now. i know this isn;t the best thign to do but honestly i only drive the car on good days, never in cold weather. and i always let it warm up before ripping on it. anwyay i took that out, i drilled and tapped my intake manifold for another water temp sensor so i can get a gauge reading right where the stock ecu temp sensor is, i re-bled the system properly and ran straight water with some redline water wetter. the last thing i did was ditched the clutch fan for now for a proper dual 12" set up, its wired with a relay and a thermostat switch for them to come on at 175 deg. oh and lasty made some sheet metal shrouds for ducting from the intercooler to radiator on the top and bottom.
so far everythings great, temps hit 175 at idle and fans kick on and bring it down to 165 ish very quickly. i went for a little drive around town and brought it up to redline a few times, temps never really went over 165 ish on a 50 deg day. sounds damn good to me im just wondering if i should bother putting a thermostat back in? the one last cooling mod im going to do very shortly is run a greddy sandwich plate with thermostat and a 10 row oil cooler i figure this will hopefulyl help out for the track since i deleted the factory oil cooler for now so im trying to go easy on it.
