This may seem like an odd question, but here goes. I recently purchased a 2010 Altima Hybrid. Great car but after driving Maxima's around for the past 15 years, I am used to a better and more comfortable seat. Anyone heard of retrofitting luxury car seat (e.g. lexus, infiniti) custom seats into an Altima? I saw the link below to Katzkin leather interiors, but would appreciate any other insights people might have.

thanks

j

So you just got standard cloth seats or did you get the red leather?

have the standard leather seats that come with the altima. They are fine, but if I could retrofit some lexus, maxima or infinity seats, I think it would be much more comfortable.

yeah you can. why couldn't you? just order the seats you want and then unbolt the old ones and customize the rails of the new ones to fit. for the airbag you can leave them unbolted or ask around for someone to make you custom harness clips

I think it'd be a bad idea. the air bag control module is specifically designed for the stock harness set-up in the altima. you could even set off the airbag disconnecting the harness, and it will throw a code that i believe can't be erased. add all the calibrated weight sensors and seat position sensors/side airbag and your playing with fire in my mind, unless you want to rewire the whole airbag sys and still may not have it work. I'm willing to bet no dealership or shop would do it for you either. But the most important question is how this will affect your safety. but this is just my opinion

oh yah, if your doing this (do you know the proper procedure to disarm the airbag sys?)and the airbag does go off you can expect probable serious injury or even be killed depending on where u are when it happens. this is serious stuff. I wouldn't even go near it
