Question where did you get your ball joints? Also is it easy to replace? or do you need a press or anything?

O' Reilly's Auto parts.

This car is a joint venture between me, my dad, and my brother. My brother works ar O'Reilly's so we tend to get everything 30-60% off. We picked up their highest qualtiy BJs for $25 a piece.

Some people use a press to get ball joints out because they tend to get stuck in the control arm. I replaced a ball joint on my first S13 a few years back so I knew what I was getting into.

All you really need to do is.

1)Remove the cotter pin that goes through the castle nut.2)Remove the castle nut3)There is the "C" shaped clip that also holds the BJ in place. You remove it be spreading it apart and pushing up.

(I unbolted the struts because the whole assembly was just sitting my driveway)

3) I melted the rubber with a blow torch until the ball joint was just swimming4) Grabbed a BFH and pounded it.

First ball joint came out in 1 swing 2nd one came out in two.

First time I replaced BJs on my S13, it took hours, I was worried about hitting something to hard. Fear not, the harder the better. I started out with a few pound contractors hammer and finished with a 40lbs sledge.

They should go in much easier than out.

The whole job is very mechanically easy, its just sometimes the BJs can be very stubborn.

On my car, the cotter pin was rusted and I could not get it out. But my friend came by with his impact wrench and took care of that.

The picture don't show off the amount of work this was.

Right now we got here running without an exhaust

My favorite part about this was putting the engine in without using a hoist.

Thanks.

The pics don't show off the boo-boos. like when we hooked up the steering to the rack and the wheel was upside down

Luckily, I now knew exactly what to do and that was fixed within 15 minutes.
