I was running high engine temps because my stock auto 240 radiator couldn't keep up, so I decided to go for a Griffin. I got it for $450 shipped and it is probably the first one of it's kind ever made. I'm planning on getting this A/C thing figured out by the end of this week with 300Plus, so I got a dual pass radiator just to be safe. Excuse the wiring mess; I had to relocate my e-fan relay and wiring so it's just piled up there temporarily.

I had to do some cutting of the frame to get the AC Condenser line to fit, but no biggy. Might call up Griffin to give them a heads up...they might also be assuming that nobody is running their AC. I also had to retrofit a new upper radiator hose off of a 2.8L gm/pontiac motor pre-1990. Not perfect, but it works. I'll have to get a new one anyways when I go with a Greddy manifold.

Enough blabbering. Here are the pics:

Sweet! You wasted no time getting it installed.

Now we can drive back to the track with no worries whatsoever.

Now get that A/C figured out and you'll be a RB god!

Wooo if this A/C issue gets figured out. I figure somebody needs to ship him like a weeks worth of beer or acholol lol. Or at least i would consider it. Cuz A/C would be glorious.

hey darius, what mount's are you using?.. just wandering because i'm considering a griffen rad, but clearance looks close up front.. i'll be running a fmic w/ factory manifold so you think i could squeeze my cold crossover pipe through there with the r33 crossmember/syko mounts? anyone running this setup?

I'm so close to figuring out this pesky A/C issue that it's not even funny. My only hangup is the A/C switch on the PUSH control unit. I haven't quite gotten into looking at it, but everything else is figured out. I even reinstalled my A/C compressor while I had the radiator out

The car stayed cool today. I actually had to drive out to Ogden, IA with one of the partners at my engineering firm because his car was in the shop. Stayed right at 84C the entire way and it was pretty muggy today. I need to get some weather stripping or something around the core to keep the air from bypassing it.

I'm running tophat mounts and I highly doubt a cold pipe will fit between the engine and the radiator unless you're running a 2" pipe. I have seen pictures of aussie guys running the cold pipe over the top of the engine and u-ing back into the throttle body on the stock plenum. That is probably your best bet without going with a custom intake manifold.

i've seen that ugly ubend your talkin about, i guess i could get a pipe made but that sucks because my intercooler kit (like most) is setup to go through the rad/engine. you think w/ the r33 crossmember would create anymore room than tophat mounts? i may just get a mishimoto rad though, thx bro

Looking good man, I stepped up to a Mishimoto since the AC was coming.

I'll email you back or give you a call tonight or tomorrow. Gotta figured this AC mess out.

looks to be griffins new drift radiator but for the RB. You should have spent a little more and have them make you a dual pass. I have one ordered for my car. On another car I built, the griffin dual pass with spal low pro fan ran at 70C at idle...

Yeah no $hit. It is so ghetto because my temp switch took a crap on me and I had to rewire the e-fans. I'm just going to tie it all up and out of the way for now and get back to it this winter when my next project starts.

Bluefire- to my knowledge it is a dual pass. If it is not, then it is not what I was expecting when I ordered.

Carl H- I figured out the A/C, but the problem I have is running it with the A/C switch on the dash vs. hardwiring a new switch on the relay ground wire.

its not a dual pass... look at the end tanks... if it was the endtanks would be on the sides not on the top and bottom. Also my price at griffin was $650 for the dual pass. and $350 for the drift style radiator that you have...

Hey can you keep updating this thread with engine temps, outside temps, fan setup etc... I think some real world numbers would be interesting

A real world update, eh? Alright, it hasn't been terribly hot here this week yet and nights are in the mid 70s so I haven't truly tested the setup vs. the stock KA. The worst case I have seen and the highest engine temp with it running has been 85C. I have an OEM Z32 thermostat that opens at 83-84C so it has not gotten any hotter than the minimum operating temperature.

Before, I couldn't drive it in temps above 84F or the engine temps would be struggling to stay in the low 90's and that's with the hot air blowing in the cab.

I have dual 9-inch Perma-Cool pusher fans in front of my A/C condenser. I will get it out this weekend when it is supposed to be in the 90's and put the new radiator to the test.

I couldn't find one online except for the pewny one that Eric's Performance parts was selling for $400+ shipped. So, I called up griffin radiator directly and talked to a tech guy and he helped me out. They have great customer service and there's a guy there named Benji who has an SR20DET in his S13 so he could specifically recommend one to best fit your needs.

Sorry for bumping an old post,

but do you have any updates on how the radiator has held up over the last few years?

still keeping the car cool? if so what kind of temps are you running now?

You can't use an RB radiator on a 2jZ.. are you crazy? That is like ghostbusters crossing the streams!

all the necks are on the same size. we got to do something differant then what is already on the car, 220+ is too warm.
