Its a 92 se coupe. anyway when im at WOT the power is weak from 3k to about 5500k rpm. is that normal? after 5500 the power comes back, my best way of describing it would be like a b16 motor when vtec hits. Do I have a problem with my motor or is that common? this is the first s13 ive owned.

Definitely sounds like a problem- KAs have lots of useable torque from 3k to 5500 and drop in power up top. Time to start checking for codes and leaks. How old is the engine? what sort of maintenance has it received?

Do a complete tune up. Seafoam the whole car, get new plugs and wires, change your oil, etc.

if your going to seafoam do it the right way. im not sure how to do it right cus i totally f***ed up my car when i foamed mine. it will destroy sensors and what not. so be really careful when you do it. i heard go straight into the throttle body itself and on some you have to go through a certain intake tube. but im not expert. just be careful that stuff is extremely harsh.

ok i put a third of the can in the oil. then let it idle for about 15 min and changed the oil with cheap autozone oil. then ran it hard for about 10 min, drained the oil and replaced it with mobil 1. I dont know if it runs any better, i put the rest of the seafoam in the gas tank. im nervous about putting it in the intake

Put it through the intake youll notice a huge difference just make sure youre in the middle of no where when you do it because it will smoke ALOT you will think you blew something it will be thick white maybe orange too smoke, But pull off the fat line on the brake boosted shove it in the bottom of the can, Start the car and run it youll have to rev it since its going to try and sputter and die but rev it continulously through the rpm band up to maybe 4k rpms highest and just let it suck it all up and smoke! also try cleaning your MAF with MAF cleaner by CRC

Change your O2 sensor too!

Also check all of your ground wires and maybe add a few new ones. That was what caused mine to act up like that.
