I'm getting rid of my sr powered 240 and am planning on picking up another one. Before I gladly spend another $7000 on sn sr swap for 230hp, I was wondering how much I could get for $7000. Is that enough for a rebuild? You guys know any shops I can look at?Thanks, Scott

Nevermind, I still don't have all the info I need. How much are you guys spending to get 320-350 hp? Can you guys show me some post for bottom end tollerences, a "dummies guide" for KA-T?

350 hp can be done both on stock internals and forgies, although for longevity most people reccomend the latter.

You need to decide how you want to control your air, fuel, and timing as well- that will be a big factor as far as cost. Also, are you thinking about brand new parts or junkyard/used ones?

Basically for 350 hp I think you're gonna have to spend some serious money.

Assuming all new stuff:

Turbo- $550Manifold- $350Pistons- $550Machine Shop Labor- $600-$1000Clutch- $400Flywheel- $300BOV- $50-$250Wastegate- $200IC (ebay)-$250Fuel Pump- $120Injectors- $250Exhaust- $200-$600IC Piping- $200 by the time youre done

Then you need managment stuff

SAFC + MSD BTM Route:SAFC- $250BTM- $250

JWT ECU ROUTE:JWT ECU- $500

E-Manage Route:ECU- $300Wiring- $75Software- $130MAFS- $100

Also dont forget all the other little crapGaugesBoost ControllerTurbo TimerVLSDSpare Engine?Head Work?Gaskets, Fittings, and Hoses (adds up to big $$)FiltersToolsEngine Stand, Crane rental or purchace, etcMaybe Fans or RadiatorBattery Relocation Kit?New Timing Set?High Flow Cat?Wideband depending on your managment choice?

etc etc etc etccccccccccc

there are TONS of factors that you need to consider, lots of different ways you can go.... and basically just always understand that it is going to cost more than it looks like on paper. I just spent $100 on tools that I didnt know I was going to need last week... Just for example...

I donno man be a little more specific about what you want, and maybe we can help you better

I don't need to worry about tools or anything of that nature, my have a full mechanic shop at my disposal.this is what I want to doPull out my KA, rebuild the upper half and turbo it. What I"m just asking is kit wise. From doing my Sr swap I know about all the little things that go into turboing or for taht matter swaping an engine. What I'm wondering is the actual build of the engine

I.e. stock internals or not? What do I need to replace if not?

is there a kit that makes 350hp? Will I need to scavange up my own kit?

That's what I need to know. What's the machine shop labor for?

and where are places to get it?Thanks, Scott

Here is an example of all the work done for you,

http://www.racetep.com/240sxtrb.htm

they bull$hit themselves and give you “race prepped rods” nor forged valves.

But you can find a better deal/some used parts so on and so forth

Ball Park: $8000-$10000 depends on how much of the work you do yourself.

scary aint it.

machine shop labor is what its gonna cost you to get the pistons (and rods if you get em) in your block. you gotta bore the cyls, file fit the rings, get the right bearings, assemble, balance, blueprint, hot tank the block, paint the block, etc, etc, etc.... There are always lots of good local places to get good machining. Just ask anyone around who knows about cars or knows his shiz. Usually domestic guys are better to ask about this kinda thing than import ones....
